If you are l near Spencer, perhaps to visit the NC Transportation Museum, then a nice place to stop for lunch is Roger Dogs. Cute inside, it is staffed by the owners, who are altogether kind and exceptionally helpful. I ordered a regular dog all the way and the quarter pound all beef "Pam Dog". Sporting a masterfully toasted bun that matches up to PB's, the regular dog toppings were generous but not messy. Chili, onion, slaw--all were beautifully assembled and tasted very good. The Pam dog was a standout. COVERED in homemade pimento cheese and lined with jalapeños, it was delicious. The pimento cheese leaned a little sweet but was very good nonetheless. The dog itself had a great, smoky, classic taste. They have Cheerwine from the fountain or in a bottle. The only thing that bummed me out was that they don't have fries. The price was very reasonable. Roger Dogs is located within walking distance of the NC transportation Museum. Unfortunately, Roger Dogs is also located across the street from the most abandoned, desolate strip mall I have ever seen. However, it is my understanding from the locals that the mall is run by a landlord who did no property upkeep but continued raising the rent. So businesses left. But the city is supposedly purchasing it and is planning to revitalize it, including building a beautiful park similar to one there in yesteryear. I hope it turns out to be as enchanting as I envision it..the bustling museum, the innocent shouts of children playing, the doleful sound of a distant train, the redolence of a crisp autumn day...It sounds so idyllic. ...and if you find yourself there, I know where you can get a really tasty hotdog.

I just came out from Rogers Dogs after visiting the transportation museum. We were greeted by the owner and his husband. Even though it was already closed when we parked our car, they were sweet enough to let us in for their last few hotdogs and I have to say what an awesome couple! They gave us special prices and between my 4 year old, DH and I ate about 5 hotdogs, ice cream, soda and chips for less than $20. The hotdogs were DELICIOUS!! We had a very fun visit at their restaurant and would recommend anyone to stop by and eat. The place is nice with a cute 80s look. I'm glad I stoped here to eat. I am visiting again for sure!!

Cute little cafe style place. Menu is straight forward. Our booth ordered- chicken salad sandwich, nachos, dipped chicken sandwich and a grilled cheese sandwich. If you are hungry- order chips with your order or double up an order. My oldest had the grilled cheese sandwich and then ordered a hotdog. For a quick easy lunch/snack- it's a great spot.

Very sweet lady that was eager to wait on us outside. We were not allowed to go inside, and the nice lady just verbally told us the menu. A couple of tables were outside, but one was pretty much in the street, and that was not an option with a toddler. We ordered two pimento cheese sandwiches, two cheeseburgers, bottled water, and 2 chips. We received only one bag of chips. The waters and the chips were the only items that were edible. Hamburger patty was of very poor quality (tasted like something I ate in the cafeteria in elementary school). Pimento cheese was disgusting-- mostly mayonnaise. If you are visiting the NC Transportation Museum, take my advice and drive into Salisbury for something to eat or bring a picnic -- do not eat here!

This place is pure and simply a touch of local color. While enjoying the nearby North Carolina Transportation Museum and the model railroading shop (The Little Choo Choo) next door to Rodger's stop in, enjoy the old timey atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the simple but tasty foods. There may be many Panera Breads and MacDonalds but this is the unique Rodger's Dogs. Don't pass up the opportunity to see a place frozen in time and tender in your memory.
