Stowe YMCA front desk :)
Side of the building includes small community garden, sidewalk games and playground, great for the kids camps they offer.

Began emailing this YMCA with interest in renting out a space for a birthday party. The coordinator and I briefly corresponded via email before she asked that I call her instead.I called and left a voicemail with all my information, even though most of it was shared in the emails.I waited for her response. After a week of no call back, I sent another email. I wanted to see whether this was my venue choice or another one that I had my eye on.I called again this week (now a months time since the first email) and was told she was not in office, so I left another voicemail.I decided it was no longer worth it and went with my first venue choice only to learn that while I waited for this coordinator's response, the other venue had booked up. I am now left without a venue and have family flying in from out of state.

Has just enough equipment for whatever type of work out you need. My only complaint is it needs more fitness class space, the gym is needed for classes and that takes away from basketball players like son to work out while I'm working out. The Les Miles workouts are excellent.

For a small town YMCA, the Stowe Family location in Belmont has a lot to offer. You'll find three separate workout schedules: two fitness floor classes and water aerobics/swimming classes. You'll also find a plethora of children's programs, personalized fitness classes (which you'll pay extra for), and open gym hours. The facility is broken up into several convenient spaces that keep areas seemingly less crowded. You'll find a "cardio room" with treadmills, bikes, steppers and ellipticals. A stretch area that includes ab machines, floor mats, hand held weights and a couple weight machines that possibly couldn't fit into the actual "weights room" (which is an additional room). You'll also find an enclosed gym and fitness classroom. Downstairs you'll find another open studio area and enclosed cycle studio, as well as the pool area and locker rooms. NOTE: they do not provide towels or locker keys here. Wifi is also very unreliable. They have one water fountain upstairs that could definitely use an update and cleaning methods are a bottle of spray cleaner and paper towels. There's definitely a lot of improve upon, but hours are great and it's very close to the exit off i-85. Also, some of the friendliest community and kick-butt workout classes!

The Stowe YMCA is a pretty good gym overall. They have a nice assortment of group fitness classes, free weights and machines, cardio equipment, and other miscellany including a nice big pool that I don't plan to use.The good: two flat benches, an incline and a decline bench, a squat rack and a power cage, a wide array of dumbbells along with a deadlifting platform and plenty of barbells allow for any weightlifter to achieve his or her goals. I wouldn't mind seeing them get rid of their Smith machine and replacing it with another power cage. They've got plenty of cardio equipment including the usual suspects of ellipticals, treadmills, stationary cycles, stair steppers, and rowing machines.Their group classes are good and effective, though they seem to be inordinately full of middle-aged housewives with implants for whatever reason. The bad: Hours. Specifically their weekend hours. They close at 6 on Saturday and 5:30 on Sunday. Staying open until their weekday closing time of 8:30 would be a godsend for people who have busy weekends but still want to squeeze their workout in.The cardio room is too small for the number of machines they have, and kind of gross. I see far too many people use the equipment, not wipe it down, and I don't ever see the staff cleaning it either.Their wifi signal SUCKS. It's either extremely slow or completely non-functional. This is extremely low hanging fruit and I'm sure would make me and many other people happy if they were to remedy it. It doesn't help that this Y is located in somewhat of a dead zone for Verizon service so if I can't get on the wifi, I can barely stream music. All in all it's a good place to work out and the benefits do outweigh the negatives. I will continue to spend too much money to come here.

My daughter loves it here, all of the counselors at summer camp are awesome. They keep her so busy and happy with all of the activities. They all seem to know her by name and I can tell that they really care about her as an individual. Special shout out to Ms. Meg who always has a smile on her face! We love the Belmont Y.

Great place to swim and do group exercise classes. I enjoy body pump, zumba and step class. I did not enjoy using the cardio room way TOOOOOO small. The staff is very friendly!!!! Ive never seen the staff clean the cardio machines.

Great YMCA. The group fitness instructors are all great, the cardio room is always clean. This gym never fills up to the point you have to wait in cardio machines. Always ample parking out front. Improvements needed....1) offer towel service 2) install a water bottle filling station so people aren't waiting in line for water 3) improve the stereo system in the downstairs group fitness room (cycling)4) extend your hours until 10pm5) clean the sauna and steam room more frequently 6) purchase more hand weights and resistance bands in the upstairs group fitness room

Great gym. Equipment is old, space is minimal but staff is super amazing. Only negative is the pool temperature being an overwhelming jacuzzi like 83-87 degrees daily. Somehow this is preferred by the facility director and water aerobics groups. Makes no sense to try and get a decent swim workout at these temps. Also the carbon foot print caused by extra heating.

Nice, friendly staff. It can get crowded. Too many people moving to the area and the facility is too small to handle. not enough open pool hours. Good machines - those that have the large screens with cable and spotify really help pass the work out time. Haven't done a class - they look crowded. The men's locker room is probably the worst I've ever been in. Half the lockers are broken and all are rusted and worn. Doesn't seem clean. The showers are weird. They have high velocity , non- adjustable shower heads that point straight out and blow the flimsy curtains getting everything wet. No hooks to hang things near most of the showers. The soap in the dispensers is foam - not as good as gel would be. Floors don't seem very clean. ( bring your own towel - they don't have towel service like Charlotte does). Steam room and sauna are nice. Wife says ladies room is a little better. The language can get rough in the weight room - wouldn't want to take my kid in there. People don't seem too conscientious about wiping down equipment when using it - even though spray and paper towels are readily available. Overall I like it - it's better than Planet Fitness to me, but I got spoiled using the Y in Central charlotte years ago - it was great.
