It may not be a big deal to some, but their corn chips are always good.
Carnitas w/rice, but very good black beans and side veggies.

The "Super Quesadilla" with carnitas. 12" flour tortilla.
Carne Asada prepared special with no rice or beans and hold the cast iron pan! Very good.
This is a burrito. It was good. No onions in the beef (like some places do). It was really good.
Large guacamole for the win!
Ribeye with two sides. The 'shrooms and spinach were a good choice, as was asking for a plate rather than a hot cast iron pan.
Al Pastor torta.
Chips and the large guacamole.
Carnitas torta time!
Large (shareable) guacamole. #Mmmmmm

I just noticed that my original review was from "the before times", so I thought I'd give you a little update. My bride and I continued to dine here even through the pandemic and were impressed with all the precautions they took to keep everyone safe. The food has always been consistently good. Their guacamole and chips are still our favorite.

We Love eating here. Food is always prepared perfectly. Wonderful staff very friendly never disappointed. The best ACP, nachos the best and Mexican cheese steak my husband favorite. This place has the best salsa it has real cilantro, onions, tomatoes taste great. All the other places have canned tomato sauce which is yuck. You can never go wrong with this place.

Tiny little place sitting in the tiny town of Thomasville, but the food and service were great. Our waitress was friendly and genuine; the food was authentic Mexican and it was done FAST. We really liked it.

Awesome quick casual Mexican spot in Thomasville, NC. The toppings bar is really cool for a restaurant like this, usually if you ask for a little or extra places forget in the kitchen. Here you can add as much lettuce, pico, sour cream, and stuff on your own. Also the topping bar has FREE cheese dip!Rio also has Tortas. Not every Mexican place has them and I think they're one of the best things on the menu here. It's a huge portion for the price. Cool place and it's small enough that the wait staff and kitchen don't get backed up. We waited about 10 minutes for food.

**Update** I won't remove a star for this incident, but I will add that I am quite frustrated after deciding to bring my grandmother and fiancé here for lunch today (the Saturday after Thanksgiving) and experiencing an unexpected menu change. Apparently the menu is slightly different on the weekend. For starters there are no lunch specials and some regular menu options (which I thought were pretty basic Mexican options) are unavailable. Without really studying the menu beforehand (because I came already knowing what I wanted) when the waiter asked me what I wanted, I was confused at his reaction when I told him I'd like to have a beef burrito and a side of rice (which is on the weekday lunch menu). Low and behold burritos are not offered on the weekends. Yeah... really?! Apparently burrito wraps are offered, but they're not the same thing. So, anyway, just make sure you actually read over the menu and save yourself the confusion, embarrassment, and of course, frustration.-------------------------------- I must confess that I've visited this restaurant a few times and was really conflicted about posting a review simply because this my friends, is one of Thomasville's best kept secrets. While I wanted to keep this secret among myself and a few close-knit loved ones, I also really want the business to thrive and keep its doors open! Thomasville has several Mexican Restaurants to choose from, but this is hands down my new personal favorite. I was honestly expecting this place to remain closed after the COVID closings because it was only up and running a month or two before COVID hit. It actually took the place of where "Legends" restaurant used to be. My mom and I just happen to be riding by about a month ago and noticed a few cars in the parking lot. We didn't get a chance to give them a try when they first opened, so we were excited to see that they managed to open their doors again! What this restaurant is not:This restaurant is not loud visually or audibly. Here you will not find any fancy artwork on the walls or themed pieces strung about, mariachi bands or live entertainment, not even loud Mexican vibe music over hidden tucked away speakers, and there are no alcoholic beverages on the menu. So don't expect to bring the crew over for some loud fun and margaritas. This is simply not that kind of place. What you will find here:This is a small, but quiet and cozy, family place, nestled on the very end of a little strip of shops on Julian Avenue. If you go by too fast, you'll likely miss it, so take my word for it and go by slowly. It is family owned and every visit I've seen the owner present, checking on the customers or at least greeting you on your way in or thanking you on your way out. Additionally, every server I've had so far has been genuinely nice and checked on me throughout my stay. These people really take care of their customers. The food:Most recently I popped in for a quick late lunch. It was around 1:00 upon arrival and there were only two other tables sitting besides me. This place has never been extremely busy so far, but the more popular Mexican places around town are all most people know. Immediately after sitting I received my complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were nice and warm and fresh because of the soft crunch. The salsa is mild, mainly to suit everyone. I did learn before leaving today that they do over a hot salsa upon request! I'll definitely have to try that next visit! This visit I chose a lunch special - a beef burrito with rice. The beef burrito comes stuffed with ground beef with cheese sauce and ranchero sauce on top plus a hefty side serving of rice (or one side of your choosing). Everything I've ever ordered came out in about ten minutes or less, nice and hot, and fresh. One visit my mom ordered her food with a side of the Crema sauce to try. It did take a little while to bring out her sauce, but they apparently made a small batch nice and fresh, just for us - so nice! The Pollo Adobo is also excellent if you're a meat and veggie lover! It is grilled chicken with grilled onions, bell peppers, spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms, topped with shredded cheese, and served with two sides. My mom and I both highly recommend giving that a try. That is what she ordered the side of Crema sauce for. The Crema sauce is a white creamy sauce with a hint of sour cream for anybody curious.

This place has the best Mexican food I have ever had! I walked in and was immediately serviced. The waiter came to the table constantly asking if everything was good or if we needed anything which I really liked. Food was so good I am definitely coming back here again.
