We were charged $30 at the door by security for a table. I thought that was odd because I have never paid. When I asked the workers there about the fee, they skated around the question. I even emailed them about the charger and didn't receive an answer. We were there at 1pm on a Saturday.Otherwise the wings were great. I ordered them plain and crispy. The salmon and grits were on point. I even enjoyed the sauce that was used. The salmon wasn't dried and the grits were creamy.I didn't care for the mimosas (made with sparkling wine and juice).The DJ was doing his thing.

The best Hookah, creative staff, and Awesome management. Every event I went to at this location has been at the real. The promoters are really good. The DJ is great and it's always a good time throughout the week. They always have theme events and specials throughout the week. The music is always good. The staff is friendly security makes you feel secure less you say everyone does their job. I like how attentive and Quick everyone years now that this is officially club. I'm a huge Hookah critic unless you say this is some of the best hooker I've had in the city.

I visited on a Sunday afternoon. It was a bit rainy so the crowd wasn't as large as I hoped, but a decent turn out. I enjoyed the DJ (mostly hip hop), and the bottle girl that attended to my section was pleasant. My friend ordered the wings, that she enjoyed and I ordered a simple eggs and toast. Overall, I enjoyed the visit and plan to return for the brunch party or the karaoke night.

Came here for Melanin Brunch Day Party. We were looking for something to do before heading to the airport and this place had good vibes, good music and good drinks. Hookah is available too. Because we weren't planning on this, I was underdressed but it was chill. No one mentioned anything about it. I would come back.

Went for Erotic Poetry on a Wednesday which was a nice crowd and the performances were nice but the food wasn't great and I only ordered chicken and fries. The bartender kept messing up my drinks. The waitress was also not attentive- we were hunting her down all night. Not sure if I'll return but if I do it'll be strictly for the poetry.

Church on Saturdays lol. This place was super lit and served good vibes from beginning to end. Randomly found this place visiting my bestfriend in NC and had a great time. Brunch with erotic poetry, live music, and hookah. I ate before attending but the food I saw at different sections look delicious.

OMG. I was going to go to Recess (Sections) on a Tuesday b/c they advertised their Karaoke vs Trap Karaoke night, so I figured I check it out. It was advertised on Eventbrite that they opened/started at 7PM. I arrived at 730. I preceded to go inside, but was stopped by the "Bouncer/Security". I thought he was joking when he stated that I could not go in b/c they "were not ready yet". I asked him, how could they not "be ready"? It was 730PM and they advertised that they "start"' at 7? His answer was "What color are we"? WOW! Sooooo because it is a BLACK Establishment, I can't go inside? Although the "doors open" at 7, security is already posted outside and the door is literally unlocked an ajar and music can be heard??? I told him that I really had to use the restroom and even if they "aren't ready", can he just escort me to the bathroom and he can escort me back out? I REALLY thought he was joking, but he told me "NO". Now, I was very well dressed, looked classy, spoke with respect and diction, but he refused to let me in---keep in mind, it was 730 and they OPEN at 7!!! He still told me NO and actually told me to GPS a restaurant and use the bathroom whereever I find one---THEN COME BACK to the club!!! WHHHATTTT??? I had to USE IT!!! He actually told me that he will "lose his job" if he escorts me to the bathroom!!! WHATTT?? I told him that if he loses his job over escorting me to the bathroom, then he needs to quit! I could not believe it! I walked away and spotted a young lady whom I asked if she worked there, she told me yes and I told her that I planned on getting something to eat and chillin there karaoke night--and I just wanted to get in there so I can also use the restroom. She was confused as to why the bouncer would not let me in... she escorted me in, the bouncer actually checked my purse (Ok---fine b/c he still had to make sure I wasn't packing), but he could have checked my purse earlier and just let me use the restroom---PLEASE remember that the establishment was ALREADY OPENED!!! I used the restroom, asked the young lady if she had cashapp, I tipped her, told her that I was actually going to stay, but the attitude and rudeness of the "Bouncer" upset me and I refused to give the actual establishment my money, so I gave her a tip and thanked her for letting me use the restroom and I left! The rudeness was insane! Especially since I was alone, was not a threat, and was very classy in my appearance, so he had NO IDEA who I could have been! I will say that when I go out, I do not mind spending money and I am a very good tipper! This place has lost a customer FOREVER and based on other reviews, I will make sure my friends never go there either. I wish I had gotten his name! If the manager or owner reads this, the "Bouncer or Security" was at the door from at least 7-730PM on April 25, 2023. I just do not understand---and for him to say, "What color are we"??? OMG! In response, I told him that it does not matter---on Eventbrite, it stated 7PM, it was after 7PM, so what was the big deal??!!! Management and owners, please get the staff some training! I could understand if it were 6PM---or even 655PM, but it was after 7PM!!! If the establishment is not going to be ready to host at 7PM, then don't open at 7PM! OH I forgot, he even said "when you have a party, do people show up on time"? WHHHAATTTT? I said, well, if they came on time or early, I'll still let them into my party because they arrived at the time I advertised!! OMG! Ridiculous and rude and UNPROFESSIONAL!!! They will NEVER get my money!!!

I came here for Floetry on Wednesday night. I had a really good time. I'm not too sure how it would be on a normal night. It's an open space concept with two bars. There were $7 drink specials , hookah and food for purchase . My drink wasn't good. It was too strong and lacked any flavor. I could have ordered a shot honestly. I did ask for juice to help. The place is promoted as an adult playground. They will probably need more games to fill some of the empty space . The parking lot is tight so we've parked on the street. I can't say if the employees are nice or not because I'm not sure who worked there besides the bartender who my interaction was very brief. Overall, I'll go back. Maybe I'll try the food next time and just a beer lol.

The food was good! I went there for the Melanin and Mimosas brunch event - had a great time! Would've been better if the waitresses didn't take forever to serve us.

Recess is a cool karaoke spot, especially if you like hookah. The bartender was really cool ( can't remember her name). The drinks were great, but the food was even better, I was shocked, but the shrimp and rice were A+.
