Power Cross Cafe

This cafe has definitely gone through changes for the better. The old owner is gone and it's now run by power cross ministry. it was a mess in the beginning but they've made some changes and hired a manager for the place and now it's smooth sailing. good breakfast and friendly people!! The interior could use an upgrade but if they're going for old diner vibes then it's great

A few years ago I remember stopping here at a place called Sonrise Cafe and getting a pretty good breakfast. The ownership has changed, as this little diner is apparently now a supporting element for a local ministry. I hoped the quality of the food did not change...but I was disappointed.My visit was for lunch, and after looking over the menu I picked the meat-and-two option, choosing country style steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans along with a roll. My plate arrived quite quickly, and I dug in only to find the entree was only slightly warm and generally absent of flavor. The beans also seemed to come straight from a can, for though I found a tiny little chunk of pork amidst them I never caught any other notion that the side had been seasoned. I recognized the accompanying dinner roll as the frozen variety available in many area supermarkets. The entire meal seemed cheap and lacking in taste. Maybe ordering something from the grill is a better move, but based on this visit alone I wouldn't come back here again. Homestyle meals should have a home cooked taste, yet this meal didn't.

Great cafe with everything freshly prepared in house and not frozen fast food. Service is wonderful and the staff are friendly. Typical cafe decor with tables and booths. Best smash burger in Statesville!!
