I've been wanting to do a Pottery date, so I googled Pottery places in Charlotte and I saw that Pottery Andrew has great reviews so I gave it a try.We were the only group there during the time of our appointment, so it felt like we were getting a private lesson. Hehe. Andrew, the owner, was very chill and accommodating. We made some small plates and bowls during our appointment, and it was a such great experience.

Andrew was an amazing instructor! I came here on a date and my friend amd I were both inexperienced on the wheel. Andrew was very knowledgable, hospitable, hilarious and patient. This quaint studio + ambience made this date very memorable and exciting. Thank you so much! I can't wait to come back.

When we were on our way out of the class, they said the pottery should take about 3 weeks to fire and glaze, and that they would call us when it's ready, but we could stop by and check if we were in the area. At 5 weeks, we thought maybe they got our number wrong so we stopped by to see if they were ready. When we got there and asked, the woman working was very rude and condescending when she informed us that "it takes a while you know." It's now been almost 7 weeks since we took the class. I'm fine with it taking a while I understand it's hard work, I would just like an accurate timeline of when it will be ready. I was still fine with it not being ready when we went to check until the employee was so rude to us.

I've been to wine and design painting classes and pottery painting classes but never a pottery making wheel class. Needless to say, I was very excited. After a failed Groupon attempt with another pottery making company, my friend and I did a quick Google search of pottery wheel classes in the QC and Pottery Central popped up. We settled on them because of the $25 class that's 3 hours every other Sunday and you get to make 3 pieces. The company is located in an old house on Monroe Road. You walk in and are immediately in the working space. They have 12 pottery wheels and good news for the lefties, they have left handed wheels. After you grab an apron, you sit down at a wheel and Andrew walks you through how to prep your clay and the how you throw it and begin to shape it into your pottery design. Andrew and his team do a great job of assisting first time potters and they're very helpful and patient. After you make your first piece of pottery, you get to throw clay two more times and make 2 more pieces. So in all, you can end up with 3 pieces depending on how fast you work within the 2 hours. After you make your pottery, you leave it there and Andrew and his team finishes them with the rest of the firing and glazing process. Your finished products are done and ready for pick up in 2 to 3 weeks. The glaze that Andrew uses is beautiful and he mixes the glaze himself. He also recycles the unused clay, so nothing goes to waste. For $25 this was a good experience that you can't beat and you get 3 pieces of handmade potter you'll cherish forever.

I have been using the pottery lab here for 2 weeks now and gotta say, this is an ideal place for me to do pottery. I have been doing pottery for a while and don't really care to take anymore classes so the owner allowed me to just us the lab. The rate is good, for 90$ /month I get to use the lab whenever I want, as long as I'm not interrupting a class or there all day everyday. The lab it's self is a decent size and is rumored to be expanding soon. Right now there are approximately 14 wheels, a hand building area, wash area, and everyone gets their own utility shelf.Since I haven't taken the classes I can't speak onto that experience, however the owner, Andy, is rather skilled with clay and I would think he could teach the ropes quite well. He is very down to earth and you can tell he does this for the love of art not money.I have been to several pottery labs in different area's and within a short period of time, this is the most relaxed place to do pottery, not to mention it's not ridiculously over priced like "Dish It Out".

My daughter and I went here to do some Pottery. We made a cup and got on one of those wheels that goes round and round. Never done either of these before. The staff was very friendly and did a good job working with us and teaching us. We were there with a large group. This is a great activity for a Father-child group activity.

Andrew is a great teacher. He listens and helps when you ask. He's also funny and easy to get a long with. The space maybe small but it's homey and everyone gets along pretty well. Sometimes it can be messy, but hey show me a CLEAN clay studio...i have actually seen worse. It's a 24-hour studio if you have the code so it's pretty safe if you are here alone. The price is also the cheapest around, way better than some place called Clay Works...but way nicer here.
