Positano

Our first night in NC, we opted for Italian food- this was one of the favorites recommended by our B&B hostess. We had to wait a few minutes before being seated and the space is fabulous! Big dining room and an outdoor patio, with light strung about. We sat and started pouring over them menu- I went with lobster ravioli and John ordered a calzone. He opted for the small since we were just visiting the area and it was still huge! My lobster ravioli was the most lobster packed I have ever had! I was so happy! Our server was quick on refills and checking on us- I was very happy with this choice!

Maybe my expectations were too high given the reviews, but my partner and I were a bit let down by Positano. We were in town for a vacation and came here for a nice dinner one evening. The staff were friendly and it was quite busy inside. We got seated outside and ordered - I got a glass of white zinfandel and lobster ravioli, my partner got lasagna and a seafood soup. Our server was nice but he had never heard of the wine I ordered or the soup, despite both being on the menu. Our drinks then took a while to come out. My wine was just OK, which is to be expected since it was $5. After a bit we had to move indoors because it started raining. The staff were very helpful getting us situated. Unfortunately our server came back and let us know the kitchen staff had never heard of the soup we ordered. This was a bit frustrating given it was quite literally on the menu. Our food came out a while later. My lobster ravioli was pretty good, albeit very salty and only came with 4 ravioli. My partner's lasagna came cold and he said that it did not taste good. Unfortunately our nice dinner ended up being a bit of a letdown.

We had dinner here last night. I got my favorite dish the lobster ravioli and my husband got spaghetti bolognese. He'd never ordered it before but it was really good! He liked the flavor and enjoyed it. Lobster ravioli is my go-to because the sauce is incredible--it's rich but also a bit acidic with blistered tomatoes.

For small town NC, this is a good place to come enjoy a nice Italian dinner with friends. There are a lot of classics, some with a twist... Classics are so for a reason, meaning that messing with what works can be a hit or a miss. It seems like they have some of both. The antipasto plate as an app is huge, heavy on olives, cheese, and drizzle. The bread, though, yummy! The appetizer arugula salad was nicely done. To explore something different, I went with the ravioli with smoked chicken... the flavor was fine (I was hungry and ate most of it), but I'm not sure I'd order again. The smoky just isn't a match for the pasta, I don't think. Nothing wrong with it, just a creative twist that didn't land for me.

Being from NJ probably skews the review. That said it was worth it to try out the restaurant after the zoo. The menu was diverse and offered a lot of options. The salad was delish and while they didn't have Feta, they addd fresh mozzarella and parm. The older server was incredible. The only snafu was the menu indicated you could add a salad for $3.00 but this was not the case.

Really great fresh ravioli, and unique anti pasta appetizer. Cheap red wine and lots of space for big groups. Kind servers although ours was new and didn't have a lot of experience to provide quality recommendations. Food was fast and great. Would certainly return.

Friendly people and service. Many different types of sauces. I would suggest the store to or Marsala or pink cream sauces opposed to plain marinara sauce for a great experience!

I think it's time for this restaurant to close. After 5 years away, I decided we should give this place another try. Before the food was pretty good and the service was poor. This time, terrible service, coupled with terrible food. I think most items were microwaved and served.Time to call it quits.

What a find. Celebrating our 28th anniversary out-of-town, & luck out finding Positano. First: drinks. House Merlot was very nice - easy to drink. I'd buy a bottle of that. Martinis were delicious too. Friend house-made mozzarella was very good. So fresh!!Dinner entrees were made with fresh (not dried) pasta. Dessert cakes were yummy!!!Meals were what we expect from restaurants... extra star added for our waitress, Victoria. Pleasant, small conversation - not too much, just enough to be personable, knowledgeable about drinks & foods.

I love the food here way better then Olive Garden I've always had a wonderful experience with all the waitresses that I have got each time I have went staff is just amazing
