Poppyseeds Bagels

We recently went to Poppyseeds Bagels to find deli comfort foods to cater my mother's funeral. The staff was amazing, and they worked with us to plan and place the order. On the day of the funeral, they recognized us when we pulled up, and started to bring the order to the car before we'd even walked inside. The smoked salmon platter and pastry platter were both beautiful, the salads (egg, tuna and whitefish) were delicious, and of course, the bagels and bialys were fantastic. We don't live nearby, but we will go back as often as possible to try everything, including their breakfast specials!

With few options for bagels in Charlotte, this New York native turned to Poppyseed bagels to satisfy his cravings. And while I enjoy the environment, the friendliness of the people working there, and the fact that you get your orders in a New York minute, Poppyseed Bagels disappoints in the one area that matters most: the food.The bagels aren't fresh and are substandard compared to the bagels I enjoyed in NY. Their bacon is also always either burnt to a crisp and falling apart or cooked well enough for you to notice that the taste is off. The eggs aren't that great either. It's so disappointing. I hate writing this review because I really wanted to love this place but the food just isn't hitting. For now, I'm content to make my own breakfast sandwiches until something better comes along.

The food was fine. But the shady part was the transaction. I paid in with a credit card, I was told one price. Then charged 4% more (hoping I wouldn't notice). And when I checked my receipt it said I paid with cash on the merchant copy for a lower amount than my actual copy. When I asked about it, I was told everyone does this and it's not a big deal... if I needed to do a corporate reimbursement it wouldn't be possible. The $1 doesn't really matter but the principals and values do to me, I won't be going back.

Have lived around the corner from the Weddington location for years and have been wanting to try. Even though I've seen several not so good reviews we decided to finally give them a visit since we were in the mood for a good bagel. Unfortunately BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE PLAYS A BIG PART in many reviews and our experience. Upon entry the older woman who takes orders did not acknowledge us even though there were only three customers in the shop. We had to ask if we could place an order and she quickly and rudely responded "WHAT DO YOU WANT". Since this was our first visit we danced for a few seconds about suggestions for popular picks and her response of what they don't have. Finally landed on ordering a plain bagel with grape jelly and cream cheese and an everything with bacon, egg, and cheese. Both selections were dry and honestly tasted like day old instead fresh. I will say the cashier was pleasant but unfortunately we will not be back. I'm on the hunt for the BEST BAGELS IN TOWN if anyone has any suggestions!

Stopped in on a Friday morning to treat myself to a Taylor Ham, egg and cheese on an everything bagel and a large iced coffee. My order was taken quickly and in a friendly manner. The coffee was huge ans tasted great. My bagel tasted great too.

2 bacon egg white & cheese bagels with cream cheese, 1 sausage egg white & cheese with cream cheese, 1 orange juice, 1 apple juice -$32 , a little high compared to our normal bagel place (where we also get chips included in that cheaper price). However, this food is inedible. Note that you have to ask for your bagel toasted, this is not included even with breakfast sandwiches. They will give you hot egg & melted cheese on a cold bagel. Not necessarily a bad thing but something we as first timers didn't know. We sent our bagels back to be reheated & the images are what I opened the already ripped foil to ( I guess from when they attempted to reheat it?) The bagel was indeed still very cold. Not sure if the manager was out today or the staff was brand new, untrained & never eaten a bagel.If I didn't tell you what was on this bagel would you know? Sadly the cream cheese container that was emptied onto my bagel is not very tasty (maybe they use the same spatulas for each one? or maybe it's expired?) I tried wiping it off to no avail & I will not be back.

Yes, the bagels are bangin' !! And they're made fresh on site. The nova lox and cream cheese was excellent. The restaurant is clean and the servers are nice. It's a super easy spot to drop in and have a quick bagel breakfast that keeps you satisfied all day!! The macaroni salad isn't bad but I wish they offered like a cucumber salad to pair with the lox and bagels. Overall, it was great!

There is an inconsistency in pricing. Paid cash (7.73) for a breakfast bagel, following week paid nearly 9 for same bagel, this week, back to 7.73. Always cash. I like their food but be careful about charges. Not a fan that I have to police their staff

I've been to Poppyseeds several times before but I've never had such a bad experience. This bagel was so burnt it was literally inedible. The man who rang us up was nice but the quality control has to be atrocious if they send out food that looks like this (I also work in food service!!). I'd rather wait a few extra minutes for a bagel that tastes good than a waste of money!

I'm from NY this place is top of the line. I ordered the reuben, best reuben I've ever had in NC. My colleagues ordered chicken salad bagel and a cheese steak and they all said they were great! Highly recommend great NY experience.
