If you are a fan of Central American pastries, I suggest you visit this place. I have spent time in Guatemala and I was very excited to find a panaderia in Charlotte that could remind me of my fun travels. The owner and staff are Guatemaltecos. In addition, the store is very basic (like what you would find in Guatemala); however, the display counter of their breads and pastries offered a very good selection.I ordered a cookie topped with fruit and it only cost $2. It was plenty for me and my husband to share for a tasty treat. I'm happy to have found this place and I plan to return. They also have another store at 4740 Old Pineville Rd. Local B, 28217.

I don't like to talk bad about places but today I decided to go and try this bakery well the bread was good a bit dry but ok so far though the sales girl that help me was rude and pushy making me uncomfortable rushing me to pick the bread, I would not go back to this place!!

My husband and I celebrated our daughters 4th birthday yesterday and ordered a tres leches cake with strawberries in the middle for 75 guests, the cake was perfect !! The tres leches was the perfect amount of moist as it should be, not too sweet and the strawberries just balanced everythjng out! Her birthday was frozen themed and they nailed it with the decoration, it was exactly like the image we chose. They also offered to put a picture of her if we wanted to. We passed on that but will be trying it next time. I will definitely be ordering from panadería quetzal again! Unfortunately with the party hosting I forgot to take a picture of the cake but here is a side view ( daughter touched the box the cake was in and messed up the front icing)And a picture of the design I found online which is exactly what we got .:))

Good Pan Dulce!! We were on our way to South Carolina & El Quetzal was recommended by a waitress at a Mexican Restaurant. We are always on the hunt for Pan Dulce...We are lacking Mexican Bakeries here in VA.

They have great Guatemalan bread (francés) and a wide selection of pan dulce. They also have some very good Guatemalan-style tamales and "chuchitos" (which are more like Mexican-style tamales). It's all quite cheap and well worth a try even if you've never had Guatemalan food before.
