Oscars is basically one of High Points National Treasures! They have been family operated and in business for over 60 years if my memory serves me right! When you walk in, you can see the captured moments in the local papers and guests who have dined in at Oscars. I love being able to see the original owners, photos on the wall because it genuinely shows a passion for bringing something to your community that people truly value. You will not find many out there like Oscars where you get a traditional home cooked meal & can pack it on with a nice fresh batch of cookies or cake for dessert. I typically go for the hamburgers on my visits with some of the delicious lemonade! They get really busy at about noon, so get there a bit early and sit down and feast.Oscars fattens the belly without breaking the bank too! Every person I've encountered on the staff have been wonderful & welcoming. It feels like you are among family when dining in. So great atmosphere & even better food!

Perhaps a more appropriate name for this place would be Oscar's Fine Folks, Good Food, and Rummage Sale.I say this because the people who work here are genuinely nice and honest. I know they are honest because I was accidentally overcharged for my meal and the order taker brought the overage to me while I was eating. Wow. Sadly, that kind of honesty is rare these days.As for the food, it is just good.:Cheeseburger: somewhat bland and just nothing to get excited about. Hot dog: also averaged out to be good with an average tasting wiener, very good slaw, chili that was fairly bland and very dry, and a bun that was nicely toasted outside but a little soggy inside. French fries: excellent.Sweet tea: pretty average; it needs to be strongerAs for the rummage sale, the fine folks at Oscar's also have for sale a handful of a hodgepodge of items from used clothing to antiques. Very odd.Oscar's is located in a part of High Point that is overall pretty industrial and run down but has a smattering of new/renovated buildings. It becomes pretty busy with local traffic, mainly people who work nearby, during the lunch hour.I am totally with Erik S on this one. I was really excited to try it, and the people and atmosphere are neat. But when you get down to what it is really all about, the food, Oscar's falls a little short.

Ok, so first time here today. Customer service was great... these chicks seem super friendly, down to earth & seemed like employees were very happy (that says a lot about a business). It's definitely a "hole in the wall" spot... some are charming, but this is maybe more of a call your order ahead place. It does have a small area for seating, but it's very small. The menu looks good, It's basic stuff (burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches)... I'm excited to try other items, especially just a basic bologna sandwich! I got two dogs, chips and a drink. The dogs were ok, definitely had better, but good enough. The bun was a tad stiff and chili a tad dry, but decent. So overall, 4 stars because the food is ok/good for what it is (an inexpensive, quick, decent meal), but customer service def. 5 stars!

Best burger I've ever had. If you're ever in High Point it's a must try. My personal favorite is the Grand Slam, but all the food here is pretty great and you won't regret trying it!

Old fashioned, greasy spot hamburger joint. The Oscar Burger is a must try if you're ever near this hidden gem in High Point. Outdoor dining available. They also serve to go order and deliveries.

Given the other reviews, I went in really wanting to like this place a lot, maybe I hyped it up a bit too much in my own brain. It is not a place I can usually eat at, given their M-F lunch only schedule. So today while enjoying a much needed staycation, I decided to give it a go. I came away with a very average impression.First off, let me say that the folks running this joint are just great people. I came in about half an hour before close and didn't detect one bit of grumpiness. Beyond that, they took good care of me with some personal service since the lunch crowd had gone and I was one of the few remaining. Super friendly folks.I ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard. A hot dog all the way. Onion Rings. Sweet tea. My total was 9 dollars and some change. A little higher than I would expect, and made worse by the portions laid before me. We'll start with the burger, which I had the least amount of qualms with. Ample size patty, cooked juicy. In the future, I think I would leave off the topping I chose and gone for a carolina style burger with chili, slaw, mustard, onion instead. Lesson learned. The hot dog was small for the 2 dollar price tag, I felt. Also, it was one of those radioactive pink types like they serve at Yum Yum's. Had I known this, I would have stayed away. The taste of the dog is important to me, and those just don't cut the mustard. However, it was saved by some tasty chili and slaw. I greatly prefer the dogs served at the local BBQ joints. The onion rings were by far the largest let down. Six tiny rings simply does not cut it. Avoid this selection.Overall, in my opinion, I could have spent my nine dollars elsewhere on a meal I would enjoy more. That said, I totally dig the family atmosphere the staff at this shack exude, and can't say enough about their friendliness. My only real dig is the value compared to other places around town, something I really thought was going to be a strong suit of this place.

We stopped here, based on reading Yelp recommendations. We ordered chili dogs, hamburger with chili sauce and fries. Service was quick and the chili dogs and hamburgers were good but not excellent. The fries were average. I'd eat there again, but the rating is def 4 star vs 5.

Delicious NC style red hot dogs "all the way" with mustard, chili, onions and slaw. Prices are reasonable for this simple straightforward food and their gracious, quick service. Great find hidden off S Main St that you should definitely check out!
