REAL GOOD BAR-B-Q. That is what you'll get at this Gastonia, N.C. jewel.Ole Carolina Barbecue has some of the BBQ that has ever passed my lips. I was introduced to this place by a friend and now when I head back to North Carolina I somehow find my way traveling through Gastonia to stop and have a meal (or two) at this decades-long gem.It's gone through a name change but the food is as good as it ever was. You know you're in the right place by the smell when you walk in the door. You just know you're in for a good meal.They offer the usual barbecue staples which you'd find at most places (pork, beef, ribs,chicken & more) but it's how they prepare their food that makes them stand out. QUALITY.The shredded pork is my personal favorite, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The beef is fantastic as well. The ribs are big, thick and juicy. The barbecue sauce is noteworthy. It's a tomato-based sauce which comes on the side and on the meat as well. When you sit down the servers automatically bring you hush puppies and BBQ sauce. The hush puppies are not like those we have here in the flat lands. They're not round but oblong and made for dipping. It's a great way to temp the tastebuds. Unlimited reorders. :)-The inside of the restaurant is very simple, nothing fancy but that's not why people come there. You come there for great barbecue and that's what you get each and every time.Ole Carolina BBQ is well worth stopping by for great meal. I'm getting hungry...

Tasted like stewed pork, no hickory/ oak smoke taste or smell. How about y'all going to City BBQ in Morganton , or Phil's in Black Mountain to taste honest bbq. Pedalin' Pig in Banner Elk is another. Lexington BBq is another. Alll these do it RIGHT. Diners, don't waster your money. Ray's in Gastonia does it well, too.

It has been a long time since we visited OCBBQ and we had fond memories when we did. I was traveling from Rock Hill today and decided to stop and pick up dinner. I ordered two pork plates with slaw and beans for our sides and a side order of okra, which I remember being very good. I cannot remember being this disappointed in a meal. First off, we did not get any hushpuppies, which should have been included. Secondly, the pork did not have a smokey flavor and was extremely dry. I don't know if the management has changed since we last visited, but I was extremely dissatisfied. We will not be going back. The pet hawks will be getting the meat.

Dined in for lunch barbecue was good . Fast and friendly service . I recommend you try the Bbq pork and onion rings.

I stopped by Carolina barbecue in Gastonia on Union roadThe food was horrible!! The portion side aren't equal? The hush puppies were good! I pay$20 for food that I have to throw out it's a waste I don't recommend this restaurant for anyone!DeLois Moore

Prices have gone sky high, a quart of BBQ slaw went from 6.99 to 14.99Pound of pork BBQ went from 11.00 per pound to 13.99 per pound.However their website does not have the updated prices posted, surprise

This was my favorite BBQ restaurateur, it just had the BEST taste you know texture, smell, flavor it was all there I loved it. I was there every week BUT I'm afraid those days are gone! for I will not ever go back! I was just there and ate after the change in management. The food ( I will not call it BBQ) is not good Do not waste your time or your money and I'm sorry to say this but "Stay away"

My family has been eating at Ole Carolina BBQ as long as I can remember, but unfortunately those days are over! The food is horrible now! Do not go here expecting it to be the same restaurant we all loved!

The red slaw is incredible. Perfect! It's on par with Lexington BBQ red slaw! Everything about this place: the food, the service, etc was at 100%.

with owner's nephew taking over, he thinks he know what people want . he is wrong. he has ruined a great bbq place in one month. bbq different, no hush puppies, crummy fries, no sliced pork bbq, changed the sandwich bun. no diet sundrop.etc. i also beleive they do not smoke the bbq they way the did before!i do not recommend and hope his uncle takes it back over until they get an owner that will put it back, they way it was. i won't be suprieded if he closes soon! don't waste your money. go to kyle flecthers instead.
