Nicks Gyros and Seafood

This review covers my initial visit on Friday, 03-31-23 and my last visit on Saturday, 12-30-23. I really want to love this place, but after dropping the ball twice, I'm not sure if I'll return. I used the drive thru both times. The young ladies working the window are always nice. Here are my issues:Both times, I've placed small orders as I've been in the area while running errands. I ordered the wings & shrimp initially. The last order was the side salad with blue cheese dressing and a slice of cheesecake. If you look at the picture, I'm not sure if it's hair or what on the shrimp. Got home & by the time I started to dig in my salad, I saw what appeared to be some onion skin on a piece of onion. I cook, so when I decide to patronize a business, the last thing I want is to regret spending money or thinking I should've just cooked myself. Was glad to see a new business in this community, but two regrets are too many for me.

I ate here for the first time last Tuesday. Ordered the Flounder basket and two whiting basket. Everything was cooked to perfection. I loved it so much I returned Thursday evening just for shrimp to add to my niece spaghetti. Keep up the good job

Don't let the interior or exterior fool you, the food is amazing. The combos are listed on the windows, go there first before ordering. So many deals and different price ranges

At the corner of West Blvd and Remount Rd, in the old Jack N The Box spot, is now the new Nick's Gyros & Seafood restaurant. On this trip, I ordered chicken gizzards and fries, and also a 5 piece wing (hot).Hot WingsFried Hard, Fried Regular..... Whatever's clever. For the sake of this post, my wings were fried hard and toss in Buffalo sauce. You can't beat crispy skin, juicy meat, and a good hot sauce coating the wing.Chicken Gizzards & Fries To me the fries were standard. I mean they were hot and crispy but no flavor. Maybe a couple of the fries had a little seasoning sprinkled on them, but the major didn't. Not a big deal, easy fix.The gizzards are the best I've had in Charlotte. The gizzards were fried and still was able to remain tender. The flavor was on point.. not to salty at all. It happened late one Saturday evening -- no -- actually early one Sunday morning. Anyhow, I was out Doordashing and soon had an order to pick up from Nick's: a fish platter and a side of fried shrimp. What? Did I read it right? Fresh fish camp deliciousness available for pickup at 2:00 in the morning? No, I wasn't hallucinating. That was some mighty fine fried fish I smelled when I pulled into the lot and strolled into the restaurant. Greeted by friendly smiles and an efficient handover, I departed soon afterwards to deliver the order. The customer confirmed what I had already suspected -- a mighty fine seafood dinner is what he'd ordered. It only took me about a week to return under my own steam to sample Nick's fish and shrimp for myself. Damned skippy! Nick's did not disappoint - nor did it disappoint my friend who tagged along to try it for himself. (And . . I kid you not . . . he returned again the next day for more!) But don't take my word for it - even at concierge-style hours you can afford to try seafood on a regular person's budget. It's delicious but not too expensive -- and it's great to see what I think will be a long-term success right in the heart of the west side of town. A place that needs and deserves this down to Earth, solid quality eatery. Way to go, Nick's!

First I must say every one that contributes to this place is very nice and kind. I usually get the shrimp when I go. It tastes good to me. I wouldn't say it's the best shrimp ever but it's not bad at all. The service was quick and again they were all helpful because I was so lost and overwhelmed on what to order. It's clean inside and there is seating for customers to be comfortable and enjoy.

They weren't lying when they say the hole in the wall places are always the best! I've always drove passed and wondered why it was always packed and open at crazy hours. So I finally took a chance and decided to give it a try. The place was really clean inside and they had great customer service. She was patient with my million questions and recommendations. I finally settled with the tilapia plate and subbed for extra fries instead of slaw. It was so filling and I was actually surprised how good it was. I will be back again soon for sure!

Came here around midnight, one of few places open. Food was all very fresh which was impressive given the time, even the fries were very fresh. Service was very quick and painless, in and out quick with the food.

Let me start by saying I was hopeful before going in. They are newly opened. I am underwhelmed by the food..I ordered the Tilapia basket for $10.99. I was told that it came with 2 pieces of fish. While standing at the counter I opened the to go box lid and saw ONE piece of Tilapia separated in 2 pieces. I spoke to someone (I guess he was the manager who told me that they order the fish & it comes like that (2 halves instead of whole pieces)). He offered to give me another piece which I did take. If I had know this in the beginning I would not have ordered it! The fish was BLAND but some seasoning was thrown on top which did nothing for the fish after cooking it with no seasoning SMH. The french Fries - the best part of my meal because they actually benefitted from the seasoning thrown on top. They were actually quite tasty!The coleslaw was- good BUT what confused me was seeing it placed in the container with the hot food, NOT a separate container on the side. I've never seen that done before! The hush puppies - were undercooked - doughy on the inside.I might give this place another try with another dish but I will have to ask very specific questions BEFORE ordering.

The shrimp Alfredo pasta lacked flavor. Gbe shrimp and well mean overall was bland. The fried shrimp tastes just okay, not heavy breading so that was nice. It seemed as if cooked shrimp was fried.
