You're prob not gonna like this review if you're a roundeye. New Century offers Asian products in a uniquely Asian setting. If you're looking for a Harris teeter or Publix vibe, then stick to that. And if you don't know what you're looking for or just here to browse, then keep it moving. Maybe buy it on Amazon or make an Asian friend that's either first or second generation. The parking lot is very bad. The conditions of the shopping carts are very bad. This I cannot disagree with other reviewers with. I have to dock a star for that. But for the availability of grocery items, this is my go-to. I can't think of another market where I can find a 10lb can of sliced water chestnuts or something most roundeyes don't have a clue of. I'm here 1-2 times per week. If you see me, feel free to ask me questions. Or maybe take trip to an Asian city for a bit of culture so that you can truly appreciate what this store has to offer. There's more to life...

I needed a replacement guard to watch the door, so I ordered a New Sentry. Ended up here instead. Oops. Not as fancy and new as the other Asian grocery store in this Plaza, but nevertheless a really nice place to shop if you are in the Northeast burbs of Charlotte North Carolina. I love how Charlotte has quickly developed into a multinational multi-ethnic Paradise in the wake of Atlanta and long may it continue.

Ugh, I hate to do but I have to. For the hot bar up front - they still get the most stars but they are not just a hot bar up front. There is the whole big store you know. I was coming in for this dried pho packet. It was just the right amount of herbs, no powdered stuff. All natural. I purchased the last of it and tried to ask the lady if they would get more in. She said yeah, I ask when and she said I don't know two weeks. Well - it has been a month - still no more packets. And if you really take your time in the store and read the packets and labels on everything - sadly most of their shit is expired. It was like the more I was coming here - the more I realized how old all their items are. I guess that's why they have everything because they have had it for years. So I will still come for the their hot food. Their steamed buns and roasted pork and duck are everything. And I will troll the aisles for something if I need it but best believe I am checking the dates and all the labels.

I was less than 24 moved into the Charlotte area when I sought out an asian grocery story to fill my new pantry. Coming from Chicago and going a varied selections of Great Vietnamese grocers to choose from, this was incredibly disappointing. Half the store is empty, no pricing on items, freshness was questionable, and selection on key items like soy sauce & rice was lacking. The area is sketch & I will be exploring other grocers before returning if I can avoid it.

We all know that Asian Corner is super sketchy, and this grocery store being located in Asian Corner, you can only guess the rest. The parking lot pavement are all bumpy and broken up.They don't let you take shopping carts outside of the store, this can be a HUUUGE pain if you buy a lot of grocery. But wait, you won't buy a lot, half of their freezer and fridges are empty, why? I don't know. The produce section is really sad, my grandma who is super thrifty even thinks 1/2 the stuff they have should have been tossed and shouldn't even be put out to be sold. There is mold and blackened spots on their produce. They do sell buns here, and Asian cake, not the decorated birthday cake type, just basic pastry cake. They also do banh mi and select Asian to go boxes for $8.89. There is bathroom in the back of the store, but the condition is deplorable.

This place simultaneously makes me happy and freaks me out. It's great to be able to find tons of (mostly Asian, but also some other ethnic) food items not available at most grocers. This time, I enjoyed some new rice types (they have at least 10-20 varieties), interesting noodles (purple wheat?), Japanese rice seasoning and jamaican jerk marinade. So far all have been a hit.The freaky parts are the random fish heads floating in a bucket in the refrigerated section. And other indecipherable items. Yikes. Prepare for some strong smells and potentially scary sights. But really great prices on lots of ethnic cooking ingredients - totally worth it.

It's kind of sad coming into here... especially with the other supermarket at the other end of the plaza. However. I DO like this one a lot more. It has more items, the aisles are wider so no problems with carts... ....but, it's fairly dirty and messy. It always feels as though it's about to go out of business. Which would be a shame because you can tell at one time it used to be a great part of the community. They also have ready to eat prepared foods, drinks, and baked goods. Their roasted duck and pork looks yummy!Again, back to the actual market. Walking through there feels like they stopped caring. Things are tossed all over the place, and floors look as though they haven't been cleaned in ages. Why a 4 star?? Well as I mentioned earlier, I like this place a lot. It reminded me of the Asian Markets I grew up around. They have a very good selections of items, and for good prices. Staff were really friendly as well... sucks to see them where they are now because they still have a fighting chance to be up on the chain if they wanted it. Not sure if they do though or have the energy to.

Its been a while. This place looks worse than ever. Just looked at sanitation grade rating of 81. I won't be coming back. Go to Mr. Lee's if you're in the area and need something to eat.

We come here for two things. Rice and Sticky Buns. The area isn't that great but it has what we need. Pretty basic place and to some folks, it is a shock.

This place will have what you need as far as various ethnics foods. It isn't the cleanest-looking store or best layout. The aisles are marked, but seems like they did some rearranging because I spent quite a bit of time looking in aisles for items that were listed on the sign only to not find it and discover it elsewhere in the store. Their tea selection is massive which is one of the few pluses. There is a section of the store where they sell random/household items/trinkets which look like dollar store products. I'd advise to Stay out of this section, its pretty junky in this area....The only encounter I had with staff was at the check-out and although I passionately love non-talkative cashiers, I feel that the cashier was outright rude. I had two similar items in my hand and asked her to price one of them. She practically snatched the item out of my hand, scanned it muttered the price and tossed it in the bag. Language barrier-perhaps or just an A-hole??? She never said another word to me other than "debit or credit" and after handing me my receipt turned her back and began with the next customer. I had noticed that she seemed pretty friendly with the customer that was ahead of me so not sure what her beef was with me, but it's obvious I wasn't welcome.Nevertheless I found what I needed and it was reasonable pricing. The store does reek upon entering, but that is likely because they sell fresh seafood (like LIVE swimming around in tanks!), but spend a few minutes there and you won't even notice till you get back in your car and your clothes/hair smells like it:-)I can't say that I will visit this store again primarily because of the service at check-out. The other stuff I could deal with...
