Nana Morrison's Soul Food

WHAT A GEM!!!!Came down for the weekend from DC and knew I needed to find some soul food. I tried Lulu's the day before and they were trash so I was worried. I saw a couple guys exiting when we arrived. I asked them is the food good and they told me EVERYTHING was good. They were in fact SPOT ON,You walk in and it's a buffet style serving where you can choose between a large platter or a small platter. The large platter which we got comes with two meats. I personally ordered the fried fish, fried chicken, greens, yams and Mac &cheese on the side, let me tell you, everything was delicious. The greens were wonderfully seasoned with turkey meat. The yams were sweet with a good cinnamon mix. I was in heaven. The fish was nice and crispy and the chicken was ohhhhh so juicy and crispy. I could not have been more thrilled.My wife ordered a big platter as well. First time having a smothered pork chop but it was good. She loved the stuffing and the hot honey chicken was a big hit. She also ordered banana pudding but she ate it so fast I was unable to get a picture. It was so good we came back the next day to get another on the way back home.There are plenty of seats on the inside. Approximately 20-30 tables. The lunch rush is out the door so that further explains how great this place is.If I'm ever in Charlotte again this place is a MUST STOP!!! You will not be disappointed!

The ambience is great, rustic and designed well with bricks. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the bathroom. The location was easy to find, and the restaurant is surrounded by other restaurants and local businesses. I did not feel welcomed, and I felt rushed to place my order, especially as a first time visitor. The food quality was bland, and I did not experience the soul food flavors that I hoped for. The yams, green beans, coconut cake, mashed potatoes, and pork chops were not seasoned well, hard, and nothing to boast about. I do not see a return visit at this time.

Loved the smothered pork chops and smothered chicken. Curry chicken Rice was awesome. Ribs fell off the bone. Peach cobbler...so delicious!

The staff were extremely kind and helpful. The food was absolutely incredible and a very high quality. I loved the catfish, yams, mac, fried chicken, & cobbler. Highly recommend it all. The restaurant is very clean and the seating is comfortable. Definitely give Nana's a try if you're looking for some delicious soul food in Charlotte.

The food was great. Reminded me of HOME! I loved the set up, such a relaxed atmosphere. Everyone was so kind.

Everything was awesome! The yams, cornbread pork chops I ordered too much! I ordered quite bit more to take with me. You get a good sized portion.

I saw review on IG and had to try it. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. I chose chicken,Ribs collards, candy sweets, double chocolate cake and a sweet tea to wash it all down. Everything i chose was perfectly seasoned but not over ribs falling off the bone Service amazing I am full so all i can say is go try it.

Food and service is amazing. Definitely coming back. The crew makes you feel welcome and very nice atmosphere

Smothered Chicken - very flavorful Greens - very interesting (I've never had sweet greens but they were delicious!)White Rice - cooked perfectly Mac and cheese - I'm never sure how to rate it but my guy loved it.Curry rice - a bit salty if you're watching your sodium (but now that I think about it, if you're watching your sodium you probably shouldn't be in a soul food place. Lol!)Service - 10/10 - Friendly and they allowed me to taste before selecting my meal.Ambiance - laid back buffet style (they make your plate, paper plates, etc.).Prices - Very affordable. I'm surprised since the food tastes so great!

Ordered the large 2 items BBQ pork ribs and smothered pork chops ...it's so good so tender...... And everyone is so friendly......come get you're soul food at Nana Morrison .......
