Visited as part of a large tour group this past weekend and it was great! It was very interesting and I learned so much about the history of this area. Thanks to all the volunteers who keep this museum going and are continually working to make it even better- I hope to be able to donate some of my time there myself this year.

Our tour guide Kerry made it interesting & enjoyable!! Quick tour nonetheless always something to learn. Really enjoyed the 1800's cabin & the smokehouse, favorite part of the tour. Their organic garden was pretty cool "the lambs ear" plant was neat as they made toilet paper & bandages from them, of course it's VERY soft! :) They were giving away yarn as well as books. GREAT overall experience! ENJOY!

Visited The Museum of the Waxhaws yesterday for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it! The indoor exhibits are beautifully presented with lots of interesting information about the Native American Waxhaw tribe, the local area during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, and more. Many of the artifacts were donated by families who have long lived in this part of NC and give you a real feel for life on the frontier. A number of historic buildings (Union County's first Post Office, a blacksmith shop, etc.) are included on the grounds.

I went with the Waxhaw Women's Group and was wonderfully surprised of the history and artifacts. Their knowledge of the Revolutionary War as well as the Civil War in this area was fascinating. I plan on taking my older granddaughters there very soon. I know they would love the old buildings as well as the history.

I visited this Museum and came away with so much new information about the historic town that I live in. Waxhaw has such a rich history that I did not know about. The tour guide and other volunteers through the museum were so well informed and delight to talk with. Put this on you list of things to do in Waxhaw when you visit.

Surprising visit to The Museum of the Waxhaws. We had planned on visiting a local museum this summer and noticed this one had Sunday hours. We knew nothing about the museum prior to going. Docent was absolutely fantastic! Graduate of App State with degree in theater arts an history. I had my 15yr old daughter with me for the tour. Other than it being way too hot outside to tour the properties the tour was great. We learned about the gardens on-site as well as the history of the area between late 1700's to early 1900's. Again great experience for a Sunday afternoon in our area.
