Mr.Sushi

This was our first time visiting. We chose to eat here purely off of Yelp reviews. We arrived as a party of 5 for a late lunch. When we entered, we were promptly greeted and told we could sit anywhere. There was only one other small party dining in. The decor is simple but clean. Our server was nice and patient as we asked questions. There was a board with specials listed behind the register. Our server took our drink orders and then promptly returned for our food orders. He was knowledgeable about how to accommodate my son's gluten allergy.The food arrived quickly. Everything was good. The tempura batter was not too heavy. The sushi portions were generous. Overall, it was a good experience. We would definitely try them again.

Best sushi in the area. Hidden gem by Shell gas station, offering great fresh sushi options, and a variety of Japanese dishes. Bubble tea too! Nice service.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! Sushi is fantastic, 20% off sushi on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and quality fish!! Hibachi is pretty great too. The white sauce is the best I've had. Check this place out!

We are new to Asheville and decided to try Mr Sushi because it's close to where we live. We always enjoy supporting local 'Mom n Pop' businesses, as opposed to corporate, and we were not disappointed. It almost feels like grandma is lovingly making your favorite dish from behind the sushi bar. The service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. He didn't seem to mind at all that we ordered sushi 3 more times after our initial order. The sushi is fresh, well prepared, and delicious. The atmosphere is laid back, unpretentious (it's located in a small strip mall) and simple in decor. This is a welcoming place with great food and my family and I were able to relax and enjoy our time together after a long week. We're definitely going back for more.

Ordered take out delivery and had high hopes as this place was well represented with good reviews. I ordered Katsu Chicken and I just...don't...think... this is what a great Katsu should be. Maybe I'm wrong. It was well breaded but lightly cooked, not even medium brown or golden for that matter. Looked a bit anemic. Sauce was on the side for to go. With rice. I dunno....kind of disappointed. Like maybe people who said it was great have bland taste buds?Also ordered Hibachi Steak with Shrimp. I wanted chicken and shrimp but strangely it wasn't on their online ordering. The order form did impressively ask how I wanted the steak cooked. Never saw that before with hibachi but I checked off Med Rare since I knew it had to travel 3 miles down the road and would continue to cook. Arrived well done, so I think the temperature preference question is a glitch or template they don't know how to turn off from their ordering site.Also ordered the Golden Dragon Roll. The mango was fresh and ripe, salmon was moist. Yummy. I also liked that the entrees came with choice of rice and side salad or edamame. Both sides were good.So my impression is...the place is called Mr. Sushi. Order sushi. Its what they do best. I think the rest is a good try, but not the main focus. For hibachi, Tokyo Express is better. Not sure where great Katsu is but hopefully someone will let me know!

10/10 will be back! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food was outstanding! And the food came at a great price. Some music would have been good but I just enjoyed the company I was with anyway. Make sure when you go to pay attention to the chalkboard behind the register because there are specials on the board. We got 20% off on the hibachi chicken. We will be going back to get more sushi and to try the katsu next.

This place is solid... Just docking one star for a slightly limited menu and it being attached to the gas station but otherwise this is a great little sushi place with excellent food and great service... Be sure to check it out

Amazing as always!!! If you haven't had the pleasure of indulging in the incredible food that Mr. Sushi prepares fresh for you, you are missing out!!! Hands down the best Japanese food you will get in Asheville. The food is always delicious and the staff/ owners are top notch!! The owner remembers us and always greeted us warmly when we walk in, asking how we are doing and genuinely interested in what we have to say. Honestly one of our favorites in Asheville!!! Do yourself a favor and go grab a meal with them, food is the best around and the ambience of their hospitality equally matches their scrumptious food!!

Yummy sushi for a great price! They're always very friendly too. Perfect for when I'm craving sushi but don't want to spend too much money

If you're looking for ambiance may not the place, that said, the sushi selection is good as is the habachi . Service is good.
