Mr Charles Chicken and Fish Uptown

I absolutely love their fried gizzards and I get them every time I go.I did not like the cabbage at all. It tastes like after they cooked the cabbage, somebody stirred a dollop of margarine in them, which gave it a weird taste.I like the tenderness of the collards but I could taste sugar in them. That's a no for me.The pork chops were A1 and hit the spot.The live music is always an added plus.

3*s A OKLive music was nice. Our server was barely to be found when my food came out cold. I had to let the host/bubbly know. When our server finally came back, all he said was "sorry". We asked for the check and left. Manager on duty just observed from a distance and said nothing either.

We were greeted upon entry and we were placed on the waitlist via Toast. We were advised that there is no estimated wait time "just whenever a table becomes available." The wait wasn't long and the hostess updated us when the table was being cleared and inquired if we were okay sitting in front of the DJ! We were seated and given food and drink menus. It was possibly about 8-10 minutes before we were greeted by a server but she asked if someone took care of us and immediately took our order! She brought us our waters shortly after. Although they had a DJ the music wasn't too loud and few people even got up to dance! It didn't take long for our food to arrive! Everything was fresh, hot and tasty ! The portion size, flavor and overall experience were top tier!!! We enjoyed everything and definitely plan to return!

I've been meaning to try this place and finally got the chance to do so tonight. I went on a Friday around 6:45pm. There was a wait but my friend and I sat at the bar. Let me start by saying the staff was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the 4 Wing dinner while my friend got the Croaker dinner. It was bomb! I'm so ashamed to say I ate it all. They even had a live band tonight. Definitely gave an old school, grown and mature vibe tonight but I did not mind it at all. I do wish the sides were a larger portion but other than that the food was good. I'll definitely be back.

An all around great experience! My sister and I came for live music on Saturday night and we were treated with excellent service. Our food was soooo delicious! I WILL be back to try something new on the menu. The catfish was very well seasoned as well as the greens! Sweet potatoes were also cooked to perfection! We also ordered the Turkey wings over rice which were very tender as well! I highly recommend coming here for good food drinks, laughs and good music! Get there early or make a reservation!

I came here on a Saturday night when they were playing live music and it was a great time! Our server Rachel was soooo sweet and took really great care of us. I ordered the turkey wings with Mac and cheese and cabbage and it was delicious! Make sure you ask for the brown gravy to go with it. I will definitely be returning!

I wanted so bad to like this spot. I have lived in clt for 15 years. I heard great things about this spot. The new location is huge and nice but the food I ordered was met. I got the whiting combo with Mac and Yams. It was gross. The fish had no flavor but was beautifully cooked. The peice were room temperature and not moist. The Mac wasn't any better. It looked decent, and it lacked flavor. It was greasy and clumpy as if only milk and sharp Cheeder were used. I could see the pepper but couldn't taste anything. The yams were decent, but I could tell it's just Karo syrup. I couldn't taste or see much seasoning. I really really wanted to rave as the customer service was phenomenal but the food was bizmal at best.

Our server Camille was awesome! From her drink suggestions to her food suggestions she was spot on. The food was GREAT and the vibes were right! It was my first time here but it definitely won't be my last. 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend!

Outstanding!!! I visited Charlotte and went to this restaurant. Believe me when I say this place does NOT disappoint!!! Friendly, fun and exceptional service, very clean restaurant and the food...D E L I C I O U S!!! My daughter and I are incredibly picky eaters and there was NOTHING to complain about. The food is seasoned perfectly. Portions are nice as well. We went back the second day and will be back in our next trip to town. Great job Mr. Charles! My mom brings everyone she knows to your restaurant.

Twice they cancelled a delivery order after sending prompts that the driver was on the way. They never answer the phone when this happens. The first time it was a Sunday and they called me on Tuesday to apologize and thats it no offer of a discount because of the inconvenience. The second time this is unacceptable and they have lost a customer. I was trying to support a Black business and this is one reason why I will never be back, their food is not that good.
