In reality, if you're not familiar with this place, upon entry can be a little daunting. Once you get passed your unfamiliarity, HANDS DOWN the best tacos in Mooresville. I get the steak tacos and soup of the day and they do not miss, ever! The wife & I do takeout from here at least twice a month. Just walk up to the butcher and ask to place an order, simple. He'll take it and put it in.

Great little Hispanic market with all you would expect to find. The good: - Excellent selection of traditional meats (the chorizo is my favorite)- Fresh corn tortillas made to order- Fresh salsas free with purchase - FANTASTIC authentic Tijuana street tacos from there small dining area- Very friendly folksThe not so good:- dirty floors and walls- very tight confines - many customers not wearing masks- difficult finding parkingI will go back for meats and tacos but would not dine there or shop the narrow isles. If you like fresh carnitas, chorizo, carne asada and other traditional Hispanic meats then it is worth going.

I DON'T EVEN LIKE SPANISH CUISINE BUT.... I almost don't want to review this place because when you try it once, you will definitely tell everybody you know about it! I can see this place getting so busy that I will have to stand in a line to eat here. My brother's friend told him about this gem, then came here with my husband, then they brought me. (I ended up making him bring me 2 days in a row) They were so surprised I actually finished everything I ordered!

This is a sit down style, not an order at the counter place - the small stack of folded-menus instead of a menu board helped with that. The menu is pretty straight forward: on a carte on the left, on a plate on the right. Bistek de Mexicano is generally my reference and they do it well here. Lightly seasoned thin sliced beefs with onions, tomatoes, and bell pepper accompanied by warm tortillas, excellent flavorful rice, well adjusted beans, and 'the salad'. Salsa come in two flavours: verde and rojo, your choice...One of the odd things about being stateside is that the water is safe but the the soft drinks will kill you. If you must drink soda then have a MexiCoke, it is less bad for you and tastes better too.

What day is it? Had some of the best carne asada & barbacoa tacos in the area. I knew immediately walking in, I had stepped into the confinement's of a true authentic taco joint. Located in a mini meat market grocery store, this was a super hole in the wall. Being the only non-Hispanic in the establishment, I received countless stares and out of place looks. My presence definitely shook their normalities on this Taco Tuesday. As with any taqueria that I'm scouting for my first time I ordered my usual carne asada tacos. Heard the barbacoa was it here, so I got two of those as well. Man, these tacos were smacking good. The meat here is the big show. Very good portions in each taco and I really enjoyed the seasoned lamb meat in the barbacoa tacos. There was so much flavor packed in these, I did not have to sauce anything up. Just a light touch squeeze of the limes over the top and you're good to go. The homemade tortillas were great and weren't too thin, nor too thick. Tortillas are key in a taco and they came out just right with a good medium balance of flour, warmed and lightly grilled. Now, to really take this meal to another dimension, a must order beverage is the Horchata. Could be up for debate on top Horchatas I've ever encountered. I helplessly downed my first cup before the tacos were ready and required a refill. Vet move: Always ask for no ice so it doesn't water the taste down and you'll also gain more volume since the cubes of ice aren't filling the capacity of the cup. This drink from the heavens is made in house using water, milk, rice, cinnamon, sugar, and this secret powder stuff. Possible it's what was used in MJ's secret stuff water bottle in Space Jam?

Finally found the good (read: authentic) stuff in Mooresville. There are lots of places you can get Americanized Mexican food, or TexMex, around here. Some are even pretty dang good. But this is the real deal. There's a place like this on pretty much every block in most towns in south Texas, but up this way, not so much. The place is a combination grocery/butcher shop/restaurant, and there's definitely nothing fancy about it. That's what gives these places their character. If you're looking for the cliché Mexican place-- chips n salsa, crunchy taco shells, beans n rice with every plate-- this is not that place, so be prepared. I recommend ordering 3 or 4 tacos, depending how hungry you are. I went with asada, pollo, and carnitas, but there are several other choices. All of mine were excellent, and my son raved about his chorizo tacos. Prices are very reasonable. Service was friendly and food came out timely. You would definitely have an advantage if you spoke Spanish here, but they do speak English pretty well (we didn't have any issues communicating). I wholeheartedly recommend you try this place out next time you want some real tacos.

This place is awful! We are California transplants and hoped this place would live up to the good reviews and it did not. My carnitas were made of boiled pork with tons of cartilage and fat and no flavor. We waited a long time for our food and it was not good. Will never come back. The market is not that great either.

This place is a bit of a hole in the wall and parking is always difficult. But this is probably one of the more authentic taco places I've found in the Lake Norman area. It's a bit harder to order due to the limited English, but what good taco place doesn't have that issue. The tacos, rice, and beans were all tasty and the value can't be beat!
