McClellan's at Monarch Cafe

We had an amazing experience at McClellans! The buffet offered all the soul food classics we love. The collard greens, fried fish, and fried chicken were perfectly seasoned, and the rice and beans, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese were flavorful and comforting. The cornbread was warm and buttery, and the desserts--especially the banana pudding and cupcakes--were the perfect sweet finish. We also enjoyed the refreshing lemonade and tea.The service was phenomenal--friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The ambience was lovely, with a cozy, welcoming vibe that added to the experience. This place is truly a hidden gem, and we will most definitely be back! If you're looking for authentic soul food with great service and atmosphere, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

I had an amazing lunch at McClellan's with my mom, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! I ordered the rib tips, which are a rare find outside of the Midwest, and they were absolutely delicious--tender, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving. My mom's fried fish was cooked to perfection, and the sides of mac and cheese and collard greens hit the spot. It's quaint so it might fill up quickly--go early. The service was top-notch, with friendly staff who made us feel right at home. Parking was a breeze with their convenient lot. If you're looking for hometown flavor served with a side of smiles, this is the place to go!

Came across this black owned restaurant driving to Tennessee. Delicious buffet of soul food. Fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, potato casserole, biscuits and gravy, sausage. All delicious. The service was excellent. This is was the Saturday brunch. The restaurant is located near a farmers market. The price was very reasonable. Definitely would come back.

How did I miss this cute local find? Monarch had the best and most friendly service. The full staff was above and beyond nice. It was my first time there but I could tell from the jovial interactions with other customers that many were regulars. We went on Sunday and didn't know it was buffet only, but that was okay. There was a good set of protein options and sides. I loved the baked chicken (other options were fried fish, fried chicken, ribs... and more). The chicken was big portions, well seasoned and tender. I also had the greens (made with turkey not pork!), mac n' cheese, candied yams (delicious!) and for dessert, I choose bread pudding (there was cake too). Such cute decor as well. I definitely recommend.

I am so disappointed at those who speak on Spartanburg restaurants and don't bring up this place in the first three suggestions. I completely enjoyed my time from the food all the way down to the customer service! Our server Savannah made this experience worth while and the owner/chef was also very personable. Don't even get me started on how cheap the prices were for QUALITY FOOD! I highly recommend

First visit for Saturday Brunch after such good reviews on YELP. Inside is very small and most tables were full. (11:30AM) we stood at the doorway for a good 10-15 minutes before we were ever greeted or acknowledged. We were led to a small table crowded against a back wall under the TV. This had us practically on top of a table for 8. I felt uncomfortable like we were crowding them getting in and out of their seats. We waited another 10 minutes for anyone to come and bring us a menu. We saw a buffet set up when we came in. When we got the menu it was another long wait to get drinks and place our order (which was to go to the buffet). The Buffet apparently at some time today offered shrimp& Grits, potatoes, sausage, bacon, French toast, waffles, chicken tenders, a breakfast casserole, biscuits and gravy. People were returning to the buffet often. That's because they were out of everything but potato's, sausage, chicken tenders. When something was brought out, (waffles) people pounced on it and immediately they were out again. At no time was the buffet complete with all offerings in the 1.5 hrs we were there. The waffles were cold (refrigerator cold). We were very disappointed. Did not feel like we got our moneys worth ($19.95) thru no fault of our own. Perhaps they had more guest than they prepared for. There were only 2 servers also. We never had anyone bring us more drinks or ask if we needed anything. I can't really review the food because the few things that were out were cold. Very disappointed.

My friend and I were looking for another new local joint with a bunch style. My friend said she kept seeing ads for this place on Facebook so we went ahead and went there. Yelp for some reason didn't have much reviews or pictures of the menu so I took a few pictures to kind of give a quick update. Definitely incredible food- we had the lunch buffet which had fried buttermilk chicken, fried catfish, green beans, coleslaw, mac & cheese, baked ziti, and homemade hush puppies wedge. I couldn't get enough. Also, we got something from the menu, banana nut waffle what age was a definitely incredible waffle and glazed bananas. The fried chicken was juicy and well cooked and mac & cheese was very creamy. Green beans were perfectly made and the hush puppies were hands-down my favorite, which is weird because I'm not a big fan of hush puppies. The waffle was perfect, including it was perfect on the sweetness with the glaze, bananas with pieces of walnut. The service was very good and high-quality customer service even though it looked like there was only two people helping all the customers. I am just guy. They opened a business that has high-quality fried chicken and waffles. I know this might sound weird but I should mention the bathroom is very clean and fresh and I know not everyone is picky about that but I am really picky with the restroom. Also, I should've mentioned the restaurant was very clean classy, but has this brunch style atmosphere. I'm just saying I have the regular brunch lunch Buffay, but I can only imagine how delicious there is Sunday brunches.

The food was amazing and the service was top notch. I felt like I was at home with my cousin eating a feast.

Enjoyed a very tasty lunch at McClellan's. I originally came to try a smash burger, but ended up ordering the lunch buffet of fried chicken, meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and corn bread. Breading on the chicken was perfectly seasoned, salted, and crispy. Staff was very friendly, often checking in and chatting with customers. Someone was walking around with a pitcher of fresh squeezed lemonade. Beautiful space with roll-up garage door for nice weather days

Stellar meal! My only regret is that I couldn't order one of everything. I highly recommend this establishment.
