Mathias Sandwich Shop

Food has gone downhill over the years. It is good but not great. I prefer it to some of the nearby chain sandwich shops.

Mathias is a hidden gem. It's a small sandwich shop that serves burgers, salads and even desserts. Parking can be tight but it's worth it. The mirror windows can be deceiving from the outside. I always thought this place was a bar. However, once inside I discovered a local diner. The employees were really nice and recommended the pimento cheese burger, which was amazing. They also advertise a buffet. Although, I didn't see the buffet I'm excited to go back when they have it. I would recommend Mathias and plan on going back again.

Hands down one of the best pimento cheese burgers around. Onion rings are also fantastic. This little place is easy to drive by, but is honestly one of very few local, diner style restaurants left in town. Even their simple breakfast items like French toast and omelets are great. It's always such a pleasant surprise eating here, like you get to experience it for the first time with each visit. They offer a buffet as well on certain days, which vary with great breakfast/lunch options.While you don't really have a waitress, the staff is always at the counter to offer refills. The only real gripe about this fantastic business is the parking situation (which I'm sure they have heard a thousand times.) Best times to go are the off hours of the day, and week days. Definitely worth finding a spot!

Great local establishment. Restaurant has been in the community for years and is a nice place to get cheap food food. There is a buffet at breakfast and lunch depending on the day. They also cater. I've come here for years to get both and never had anything I didn't enjoy. They also have some of the better sweet tea in the area.

The food was amazing and the service was great as always. If you've never been here before I highly suggest it. Also this place offers amazing catering options

I just enjoyed a very good pimento burger along with fresh cut french fries at Mathis Sandwich Shop in Irmo. This place is busy as the food is varied and good. They even have a meat and vegetables option. Their breakfasts are great along with the sandwiches they have for lunch and catering. The tea is home brewed which is an added plus.

Always always good! I usually don't toast the bread, but tried it this time. It was different. I personally prefer it untoasted. The chicken salad never misses or the egg salad!

I had mixed emotions eating at this place. Most of the ingredients were fresh, bread was slightly old and brittle, yet everything seemed fairly tasty. My biggest complaint was the value to price. Very expensive for the small portions. Nothing terrible, just too many places around offering better value.

We will never use this company Mathias Sandwich Shop again! Blatant racism and stereotyping during our pick up! We have placed orders several times over the years. This is my husband's recent experience 12.23.2023.#boycott#like and #share....................................................Our usual preorder fruit tray, sandwich tray and veggie tray. They were an hour late on my food because they gave the fruit tray to someone else...I asked what can they do to prorate the cost because I have been there over an hour waiting for food they gave to someone else...the owner said they can't do anything about it....and I asked, there is nothing you can do for your customer which was your mistake...he says and reached in his wallet and said, here is 20.00, I'm sure this is more than what you make an hour? I told him, "Please do not insult me and he will never get my business again," and he said fine....and walked away.
