Mai Thai

Our ROMEO group went here for lunch today with six members. Got there right at 11:30 and there was a line waiting for it to open. The hostess set up a table for six and took our drink orders. It was the first time here for 5 of our members. The restaurant got crowded pretty fast with people waiting in line to get a seat after about 30 minutes. I ordered some Golden Angels for the table so that everyone could taste them. They were a big hit, with the plum dipping sauce really making them great. We had two orders for "Two Friends Panang Curry", one Drunken Noodles, one Fried Rice, and a couple of other orders. Also we had two orders for Thom Yum soup (one with shrimp and one with chicken). The soup was very good. The Two Friends Panang has always been a favorite of mine and has just a little tang but also has sweetness from the pineapple. A lot of the guys thought that since this was Thai that it would be very spicy, but were surprised that the meals were very good a just right. Every single person gave it a rating as 4.5 along with one 5.0 rating.....Averaging a 4.6 on the ROMEO scale! Great place. It took a bit to get the orders since the restaurant filled up pretty quickly, but our waitress was great and checked on us throughout the meal. This is one of my favorite, if not THE favorite, for Thai food in the area. Prices are reasonable and the food is great along with the presentation of the food.

This restaurant is very unassuming in a strip mall - but do *not* underestimate it! The interior ambiance is very cute, warm, and clean.We got our food to go, but staff was super friendly.And most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious and authentic. Portion sizes are great for the price, it was fresh, and flavorful!Although I was only in town visiting a friend, she regularly gets food from here and I 100% see why. We'll go again when I visit her next!

First visit, ordered Pad Thai w/ Tofu. Food and flavor was excellent. The service at the restaurant was helpful, even while waiting for my to go order they asked if I needed a drink.

Food is always tasty and well prepared at the Mai Thai! Our perennial favorite for an appetizer is coconut soup. Spoonfuls of delicious warm broth, a few crunchy vegetables and your choice of a protein cap off this culinary soup masterpiece. Refreshingly light and full of flavor! We rounded out our meal with a maithai and a garden salad with shrimp. I could barely eat all the shrimp. Very generous portion!Wait staff are very pleasant and the ambiance and prices are reasonable! Great Thai food!

While strolling through Columbia, South Carolina, we discovered Mai Thai, a delightful Thailand Restaurant. The warm ambiance and traditional decor set the stage for a fun dining experience. The Amazing Coconut Soup and Seafood Basil are must-tries among the standout dishes. Absolutely delicious food, friendly and kind owners, cafe style dining. I've eaten at Mai Thai on a daily and often weekly basis for 4 months. Every meal is cooked to order, vegetables are colorful and fresh and the food is beautifully plated. 1000 stars!

Food was great but service was horrible. Waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged and seated. Waited 30 more for food, I went ahead and asked to have it to go. If you don't have the luxury of time, i do not recommend eating here.
