Came here for lunch with a friend on a Saturday. It wasn't too busy, but clearly there are regulars and this is a staple for many families. We sat inside and the server was attentive at first and then disappeared at times when we needed more water when food was delivered by kitchen staff. Authentic Mexican food and strong margaritas were had by both of us. We left feeling full and glad we ate a lot to soak up some of the alcohol. Park in the Walmart grocery parking lot and this space is located in the right corner of the strip mall. Nothing really else located in this strip mall that would make you want to visit more often.

I've driven by this plaza several times and never thought to stop at the restaurants. By far, top 3 latin food spot in Charlotte. Ambiance is family and casual. No frills decorations, you want solid, fresh, perfectly seasoned Colombian food, look no further than Los Paisas.I had the Bandeja Colombiana Mixta (or plato paisa in other places) this one added a side of minced meat. Washed it down with jugo de maracuyá (passion fruit) freshly squeezed. I left a stuffed monkey, so much so that I skipped dessert, options being flan de caramelo and tres leches cake. That's for next time.Support local

Recently visited Los Paisas Colombian restaurant. Definitely not my first time, I have been visiting them since I moved to North Carolina from NJ.The yucca fritta is amazing, always hand cut and homemade. Crispy on the outside creamy on the inside. First time we tried the grilled, my words by the way? Grilled platter and it was amazing.Los Parrillada - soooo good!! Who knew skirt steak could taste that good?!I absolutely love their condiments, always homemade, I slather the yucca in their green sauce along with the other meats. The empanadas are OK, smaller and not made like my former mother-in-law used to hand make. But they're not bad. I want to be clear. It's a personal preference as I've had Colombian food, home cooked from someone from Barranquilla, Columbia - so I am spoiled! Their food is amazing! My favorite is always going to be their chorizo - so, so so good! oh my gosh, I know this is going to sound ridiculous? But the rice?! It's a work of art. I promise you have not had rice perfectly cooked, until you've had it from here. Beans are equally as good, we got extra to take home.Last but never least - is the dessert. Their tres leches is beautiful! Reminded me of the restaurant my in-laws took me to decades ago in Hackensack New Jersey. You've got to try it. Seriously? This is got to be some of the best home-cooked, homemade, Columbian food in the area. The staff/service - above par, that hasn't changed at all. My former father-in-law used to tell me that you could always tell a good food establishment, if it was packed with locals. This was definitely the case! Really enjoyed our meal, definitely will be back, highly recommend Los Paisas for amazing, home cooked Columbian food if that is something that interests you.

Que mas? If your looking some really great Columbian Food, Los Paisas has some really tasty dishes. The service is amazingly great, even when it's packed, the service has been exceptional. The staff is super nice and friendly, we've been enjoying their food since we moved to Queen City in 2016 and never been disappointed, the vibe is lively with some really nice Latin playlist in background. But above all their food will have you saying: "Se me hace agua la boca" ...it makes my mouth water.

The garlic shrimp was tasty. I love garlic so for someone that's not as much a fan. I wouldn't recommend this dish. The sauce was perfect! Sometimes by the time it gets to the table it separates. This did not and was fantastic. The tostones were not my thing. We had a group and the service was fabulous. They were patient in explaining what came with each dish. There was no issue with receiving individual bills. It's a little hole in the wall by a WalMart and next to Bonchon chicken.

In my opinion, this is the best Columbian restaurant in Charlotte. Typically, I just get the mojarra whole fish or shrimp and rice with plantains. But last night, I decided to go all-out and get their bandeja tipica Columbiana plate. Look at all this food you get for $17 !I also LOVE all their varieties of fruit drinks. Some fruits, I guarantee you, that you've never even heard of such as Lulo, Mamey, etc. We went as a group of 7. Two of us got the bandeja tipica Columbiana. I got the Mamey (for best flavor get the fruit drinks with a milk-base instead of the water-base). It was sensational. The idea of a perfectly poached egg on top of the grilled beef was incredible. I love their salsa verde. It definitely tastes like they make it in-house. I slathered my entire entree with that stuff. lol. The dish also comes with a huge quantity of tastey rice & beans, chicharron, a red sausage, avocado & a plantain. So good !!!! I challenge you to finish it, because I couldn't. Several folks got the garlic shrimp with tostones. They said they liked it, but noted it was very heavy on the garlic so you really need to like garlic. One got the shrimp and rice with plantains. Also very good and it was presented very well. I got a beef empanada for an appetizer. Highly recommend and make sure you slather that salsa verde on it. Soooo good !!! One of the gals got the sausage and arepa appetizer. I also got a Columbian soda, which tastes alot like cream soda. Note: They automatically add an 18% gratuity to larger groups. Our server was great. Btw... when making the reservation, I called the restaurant and a lady answered in Spanish. I went ahead and made the reservation in Spanish, since I speak enough to get by, but some folks may be intimidated. However, our waiter and 2 other folks I spoke with while dining spoke English well. This place is nestled into a corner of a strip mall next to a neighborhood Walmart and the Korean Restaurant Bonchon on Pineville-Matthews Rd. If you have not tried this place, you are definitely missing out.

This is my favorite restaurant of all time.I haven't been in years because I don't live in the area anymore. Had a girls day out in Charlotte and told my friends about this place. It is just a phenomenal as I remember. Their empanadas are amazing, and the salsa they serve is SO delicious. The service is always excellent, the food is amazing and absolutely worth an 80 mile drive. I was too full for their tres leches, but I definitely recommend saving room for dessert.

Great food. Good service. Great passion fruit and blackberry juice. The empanadas are a little low on meat, but they are still delicious.
