My family of 5 stopped in to give Local Roots & Provisions a try as we have passed by numerous times. The building, decor and overall vibe was really fantastic! Everyone that we encountered was pleasant and passionate about this place. We started off with appetizers and really enjoyed the Firecracker Shrimp! Being huge Pimento cheese fans we all unanimously voted for the Baked Pimento Cheese however it was extremely burnt and very greasy which the kids weren't overjoyed to try, but the pretzel bites were a hit. Our entrees touched on some major staples- kids burger got a double thumbs up, the Cajun Cream Flatbread was a homerun with the 15 year old (he possibly could have eaten 2+), the short ribs were flavorful however not as tender as talked up and fairly dry (the smashed potatoes were not good- somewhat of a sour taste and definitely not living up to the "smashed" name), the Tuna as well as Prime Rib were ok. Both good, but nothing to rave about. Mac and Cheese also had an unusual flavor to it, which as parents not liking to waste money did try to eat as much as possible, but 3 sides proved to be too much. The saving grace was the deserts- we had 4 and thankfully those saved the day. I would definitely like to give this another shot maybe childless to have cocktails and on a non-weekend evening as Friday was very busy. Our server was great! The kids loved her and she clearly loved this restaurant!

YUM! Every single thing served here was top notch! We brought a large crowd during the Holidays and the service was impeccable, friendly and fun. Several servers brought out plates in a timely manner for a large table making the experience painless. Great food, love the atmosphere! If they start making that grilled green tomato sammy gluten-free I'll get back on a plane and head right back to NC for the outdoor seating! Thanks for the Fun Local Roots & Provisions!

My short rib was INCREDIBLE - so tender! The roasted veggies on the side were super flavorful. I did have to salt the plate, A LOT, but I think that's a regional thing. Every restaurant I've visited in WNC has needed more seasoning. I'm a seasoned food person. Sometimes there's no substitute for seasoning before cooking. But not in this case. The salted short rib was perfection. I would have ordered a second if it had not been so huge and filling!!The appetizer, on the other hand, just could not be saved. Unseasoned pork inside the collard egg rolls had the flavor and mouth feel of chewed gum. Both orders were delivered warm, not hot, as you would expect. It was less a feeling of getting food cooked to order at a restaurant and more like you came to a dinner party late and were served an hour after everyone else. It's not the friendliest place. My waiter was very kind, the host was super warm, but no one else bothered to interact.

Almost a 5 but let's wait till next time although it was good but everything has to be perfect for a 5 on the first visit.Have been meaning to try this place for some time but originally was having some trouble locating it. It is right off of Court Square but just down one of the feeder streets. We were going to Lincolnton (from Denver NC) this norming to pick up some produce and grab a quick lunch. Gave my wife several choses and she chose this one because the menu looked interesting, and we had never been here before and she liked the menu. Granted we had discussed this place several time before and it was just a matter of time before we came.Found a parking spot on the main drag with no problem although there is also a parking lot attached.Walked in a little after 11:30 and were asked to wait a minute while they figured out where to seat up. Not that they were crowded but just wanted to divide the load out amount the servers. We were seated shortly thereafter and out server was there shortly thereafter. My wife had her regular water while I had my unsweetened tea with Lemon. For our entrees, I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich with Roots Fries, and my wife had the Bacon Lettuce and Green Tomato Sandwich also with the Root Fries. The Fried Chicken Sandwich was one of the best that I have ever had, and my wife loved the Bacon, Lettuce and Green Tomato Sandwich. e both Loved the Root Fries and while they are only a version of French Fries, they were excellent.Service was great for the most part, food was excellent, and we will be back.Only things that kept this for being a 5-star first time out was that we were freezing the entire time we were there. If I had known, I would have worn a jacket. Second point was after I had paid, I asked for a final copy of my receipt showing the total after gratuity and after waits for a period of time, we just left. All in all, it was good and we will be back.

10/10 stopped in today with a group of 5 of us. They were able to seat us pretty quickly. We started with a flatbread and the firecracker shrimp and I can't recommend both enough. I went with the wintergreen salad and it was delicious.

We had a wedding rehearsal dinner hosted here. The event space was beautiful. Prior to event we sat at the bar and had a Sycamore beer and Bees Knees cocktail. The bartender was friendly and poured with a heavy hand. Both were excellent. We ordered the Southern Eggrolls. Some of the best eggrolls we've ever had. It's made with pork and greens with this unique mustard sauce. For the event we had pulled pork, short ribs, Brussels, and Mac and cheese. The pork is tangy just how I like it. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Went to Local Roots for the first time today for a lunch meeting. I arrived right at 11. We got a table quickly, and it wasn't long until there was a wait. The place seemed super popular. I loved the simplicity of the menu and the variety of options. Prices are reasonable. It's a great location and just very warm and rustic inside. The only drawback is that it does get a little loud due to all the wood and hard surfaces. Service was great. I had a Fried Green Tomato BLT on Sourdough with fries. It was fantastic. Fries were great as well. I'll definitely be back.

First visit to Local Roots. In town visiting son and DIL. First... I had read a review commenting on the restaurant being cold... definitely true. It was very cold inside until it filled with diners which warmed it up some. As for dining experience... our server was very pleasant just not too attentive given it wasn't that busy. We ordered a bread plate appetizer only to be told they were out of bread.... out of bread? I had planned to order a Chopped Salad and Pig Flatbread that I saw on one the menus pictured. Well... no chopped salad so I went with the Classic. Basically a faux Greek salad minus pepperoncinis and black olives. The menu listed a red wine vinaigrette however it was served with something akin to a Ken Steakhouse Vidallia Onion dressing. While tasty it was not red wine vinaigrette. My flatbread came out with the other entrees and this is where things really went south.... While the other three dinners looked delicious simply based on presentation alone my flatbread looked like something from Chucky Cheese. I knew at that point this was not good. It was obvious it had been sitting under a heat lamp. My guess they cooked it prior to the entrees. The ingredients looked like a blob of brownish grey mush spread on flatbread. The bbq was dried out and "crispy" the cheese was all but nonexistent as were some of the other toppings. The server came back around and offered to have another one made on the fly. By that time everyone else was close to finished and I had eaten a good portion of my wife's Shrimp n Grits (which were outstanding, highly recommend!)So other than my selection of menu items, the place feeling like an ice box and service being less than attentive Local Roots seems like a nice place and my wife son and DIL really enjoyed their entrees.
