A true and authentic BBQ joint in the heartland of barbecue! An outstanding Lexington style bbq with some darn good sides. Everything about this joint speaks true to bbq, especially the beauty of west Carolina hog. The owners are wonderful and blunt and'll fix you up something you'll be begging to come back to. Make sure to get their hush puppies and slaw. Something about this place is real special and I Highly recommend

Small walk in restaurant in Newton with little parking but enough room inside to have lunch. I was a little sketch when pulling in but was determined to give it a try. The service was not phenomenal but the food is amazing! The prices are great for what you receive. They do charge a 4% up charge to use debit . I recommend the sweet tea and definitely the corn nuggets .

Well, what a tasty surprise it was to stumble upon this bbq place while we were near Hickory today. The place has been around since 1963 and it still has that old school charm with vintage chrome stools and booths - everything was in great condition! Service was friendly and quick; food portions were generous and tasty. I had the smoked pulled chicken combo - clean, smoky, juicy meat piled high on thr bun with vinegar slaw...not too zesty or that awful over-mayonnaised deli slop! Just perfect. No weird gristle or fatty pieces. Just good pulled smoked chicken piled high enough that I didn't eat the bun - just filled up on the contents of the sandwich instead! Crinkle fries were hot and tasty! Onion rings - classic and crispy! Yummmmy! Just go!

Great Ribs!! I'll be back for more!! This was a place I discovered while tooling Down down the highway. Was not disappointed either.

Food is fresh smoked. Everything is really good. Great southern tea. Lip sticking hood. Counter service but great. Nice 50s dinner vibe. That is excellent eating.

I got the daily special - BBQ Sandwich combo. This included fries and a drink for $8. I also got 3 hush puppies! I'm an eastern Carolina bbq girl so this sauce wasn't my favorite but that doesn't mean it's not good! It's just not my cup of tea. It tasted very good and the fries and hush puppies were amazing! It's a hole in the wall bbq joint - in my opinion those are always the best! The staff were all great and knew everyone coming into the restaurant! Such a small town feel! Stop in here for some proper Hickory style BBQ!

This is hands down the best BBQ I've eaten! Amazing succulent pulled pork. The ribs are out of this world! Definitely stop by if you are in the area. Or even if you arent, make the trip! Management is friendly and welcoming. Love this place!

The atmosphere is cold & awkward. The staff were emotionless and acted as if the customers (other than the handful of regulars) were nuisances. We were confused with all the awards hanging around stating they had the best bbq because ours was terrible. My husband had the brisket which was rubbery anf bland and I had the ribs which were nothing but fat. The fries and hushpuppies were the only good thing in our combos sadly. The slaw was mediocre, nothing special. Oddly there are no menus, just one printed menu sat on top of the counter where you order food. Just an uncomfortable and unsatisfying dining experience for us.

Love this little place. I felt sorry for the employees today because the AC was on the fritz. Hope they get it fixed quick.I got the cheeseburger, fries, onion rings, and hushpuppies. Loved it
