Arrived shortly after they opened and the places smelled like heaven. I ordered the oxtail entre, a beef patty and the ginger drink they had. The beef patty was super fresh and delicious, the ginger drink was awesome as well with just enough ginger for a little kick. The entree came with cabbage and dirty rice, both were fantastic especially when I put the gravey from the oxtail on the rice it was to die for. The oxtail was cooked to perfection and seasoned properly. Honestly I've been in town working for a month going out to eat everyday and this was the best meal I've had so far. I highly recommend and will be back on the future.

We ordered a few dishes. We had the whiting with rice and sweet plantains, the oxtails/ jerked dark chicken (had ordered the oxtail entree but the young lady helping must have heard wrong), the stew chicken/ jerked dark chicken combo, the 5 piece wings with fries and a few drinks. Suprisingly it was not spicy! The jerked dark chicken was super dry. This place is over prices. Three entries and 4 drinks. Over $90. I've been to better that cost less

This restaurant is no joke. It's not my fraternak Jamaican grandparents' cooking, but I won't take that away from them. Servings are large and filling. I ordered brown stew chicken. It's missing scotch bonnet in the recipe. Not a ding against them, though. The "grown people" sorrel had enough kick to it that I waited until I was at my hotel suite before drinking it.Big ups for outstanding service. I had passed on several recommendations for a few other Jamaican restaurants and I'm glad I took a chance going to Lawrence.

I just wasted $14 and I'm about to vent about it. Lawrence Caribbean Restaurant Please take off the authentic Caribean food. Or make it just Jamaican food. Because I just purchased a Roti from you all. And that Roti was horrible. The skin taste like Mexican tortillas doughs that they rebaked and refried. Who puts chicken legs inside of a Roti? Curry had no salt or taste. Please take Roti off your menu. Cause whoever's putting it together, aint doing it right?

We are probably the most mixed group of friends that have walked into this place in a while. Myself, my friend from Jamaica, and my friend from India came here for lunch on a Thursday. First, there was a Jamaican lady that set up some teas, soaps, honey and different things on their covered patio. I got some dogs blood leaves tea (it isn't dogs blood lol), another tea that's supposed to be an antioxidant, and some turmeric soap (good for skin acne and other skin conditions). Then we all ordered something different. My Jamaican friend ordered the goat roti and I ordered the shrimp roti ($18). She said it tasted authentic and this place was better than Caribbean Hut, in case you are wondering. I also ordered one chicken and one beef meat pie ($4 ea). The dough on the meat pie was excellent. It softly crumbles and reminds me of those Stouffer chicken potpies at the grocery store. I got their grownup handmade sorrel drink ($10) and that was really good. My Jamaican friend and I each got a black cake. It was moist and full of flavor. My friend got hers with her meal, but I had to go up and remind the guy he had not given me my cake. All total, I spent $35 for lunch. My Indian friend got the Jerk chicken. She liked it and said it was not too spicy. For take home, I ordered a large jerk chicken, 2 chicken and 2 beef meat pies, and a red velvet cake. I paid an additional $31.31 the same time I ordered my meal to stay. I don't recommend that you do that. Because when I went to pick up my to go order I asked if it was all there and he said it was. It looked just a tad bit small so I listed off what I ordered. He said yes to everything until I got to the red velvet cake. He said I had not ordered one and I and my friends all remembered that I most certainly did. So he tried to find the receipt he kept, but couldn't find it. He finally just gave me the piece of cake, which was correct. However, in the future I would get better proof of what I paid for to make sure there are no misunderstandings. In today's world, some folks could take advantage on either side of the equation... so best to have a good system in place.

I ordered the large jerk chicken with cabbage and yams. I received 1 drumstick, 1/2 of thigh and 1/2 of another drumstick! The large portion of the containers were filled to the top with rice and beans- it was like a pot of rice in each one. My boyfriend ordered curry goat, Mac and cheese and cabbage. There were only 10 small pieces of goat, and the macaroni and cheese did not have any cheese!!! The noodles were stuck together from being cooked. The was no yellow or even white color from any cheese. The cabbage was shredded into thi thin strips and didn't fill the small portion of the container. I know it's TMI but we both ended up in the bathroom several times. What a waste of $48.58!

This spot is A1 -- so ignore the haters who wrote a review out of spite! Like I almost didn't come here bc of some of the negative comments!! IM SO GLAD I WENT TO TRY MYSELF! I grabbed 2 large oxtails plates and 2 beef patties for take out for my gf bday! Man was it good!! I haven't had authentic Jamaican food in a long time! The beef patties could use a bit more meat but they are fresh and homemade!!! Like what?! Oxtails has bones in it bc IT COMES WITH BONES. if you ever had oxtails you know some pieces are better than others. Period. It was $70 but well spent. Y'all spend that much at chain restaurants w/ no problem. Go support these people man. They out here doing their thing! My gf was sooooo happy! Thank you!!! Thank you Thank you!!! Will be back!

First time trying this place. Was visiting clt and had an intense craving for oxtails. Gentleman told us to come back in an hour since they weren't ready and when we came back, we had the most amazing fresh tender oxtails. Rice flavorful, everything nice. Carrot cake was bomb too. Can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu

The l restaurant was clean, staff was friendly, prices were good. I ordered the special (curry chicken, rice and peas with plantain). The server was very courteous and kind. If this were a customer service review, they'd get a 5/5.The food was disappointing. The beans in the 'rice and peas' was crunchy and undercooked. The plantain looked like frozen plantain that wasn't fully fried. They literally had canned veggies on the plate- not sure where those came from. The curry sauce tasted like someone had spilled Knorr or Maggie boulion powder in it. Needless to say, I couldn't finish it. To the owners, change the chef; Everything else is working.
