Absolutely love Latta constantly walking the trails or running them. Scenery is beautiful, the facilities are well maintained, clean, even the portable (most days, lol). My one concern is that when walking near the horse stables I've encountered parked cars where people were having "imitate" moments, very acrobatic ones at that, smh. Perhaps get some patrols going to cut down on that activity. That's my only concern and it was only in that one area near the stables and the woods very near the stables.

A large peninsula which sticks out into the water. Many options are available, including trails, lakeside beaches, and some buildings. I did not make it to the raptor center, which looked interesting, and their historic town was closed. Nonetheless, I found plenty of green space worth indulging in, and there were several places to park that were crowded but not overwhelmed. No charge to get in, so why not head over?

If you love nature, you will love this place. I like to bring my dog and take a long white walk on the hiking trails. Also great for Sundays just to relax and think they have shelters. You can have a picnic here clean bathrooms I highly recommend.

It was a easy trail and we had a great view of the water. It wasn't too busy either. I will definitely be back!

The park is just beautiful and relaxing to walk through. My kids are 18 &20 now, but we did a lot there when they were small children. The reptile center needs some work, but it's still interesting to check out.

Yes. 100 times. This preserve is awesome. 16 miles of trails! You can't go wrong here! Buzzard rock is STROLLER friendly! It's the last parking area as you keep driving into the park. It's a great option for a toddler hike or a nice stroll- it's short enough for the whole family to join in together and has a gorgeous view of the Lake Norman at the end of the trail.

Latta is a beautiful place to relax, go for a walk, trail run, ride horses, etc. There are lots of trails that are a mile or two long and circle back to the main road, so it's hard to get lost. There are restrooms near the parking area, and picnic tables, plus sand volleyball courts. Some of the trails have a lot of roots, so if you bring a stroller, make sure it's a jogging stroller and even then, you'll need to go slow. We took our 8-year old niece for a walk and saw a lot of wildlife: variety of birds, frogs, lizards, and even a few snakes minding their own business.

Love this place. Many different trails and a variety of complexity. Always feels peaceful. If you have a kayak, there's a spot you can leave from.

I loved this preserve! Long trails, natural occurring. The lake in the center is gorgeous. The trails were miles long and it was a great exercise. Keep note that good walking shoes, tennis shoes or trail shoes are necessary as theres tons of rocks, roots, sticks, etc that are easily tripped over. We found parking very easily today, even on Sunday afternoon. Trails are mostly shaded areas.I highly recommend this preserve!

David, the park ranger was informative and so welcoming! He informed of us about kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding excursions! The welcome center is a great place to start if you are new to the area. There are about five or more trails. All trails are family friendly and perfect for small children! Some trails lead to the river.Great place to walk/hike/run. They also have benches along the trail for reflecting and meditating.
