Another beautiful night going to Las Palmas. Tonight we went during a live band performance and it felt like we were at a concert! Now I know I have to remember the night for live music to get some good food and free entertainment. Service was excellent and can help out with the menu. On a side of town where you have plenty of Mexican options, Las Palmas is the new kid on the block that is making a name for themselves!

I'm surprised that someone decided to open another Central American restaurant in Charlotte especially when there is already another well-established one across the street but here is Las Palmas in what used to be John's Family Restaurant on Westinghouse near South Tryon. We were welcomed and seated, having dinner with a friend. The menu is extensive and focused on seafood with lots of crab legs and shrimp and such. I'm not one to usually trust seafood this far from the coastline so I chose the Carne Asada which was very good. A nice portion with plenty of skirt steak cooked medium rare as requested with rice and beans and a little pico and a roasted pepper.Main complaint is that it was not very hot. I think these plastic plates are inexpensive for the restaurant but they make it hard to keep it hot from the kitchen and on the table. Otherwise, the service was good and the drinks were strong. We would (and will) return to Las Palmas. [Review 99 of 2025 - 4069 in North Carolina - 23666 overall]

Love this new addition on Westinghouse. They offer chips and salsa along with some ceviche upon arrival. Our go to is the Trio platter, which easily feeds two. Food is very tasty and fresh. We enjoy their Horchata, it is very flavorful not watered down like other establishments around the area. Definitely recommend trying this place out

This used to be John's restaurant. The 1st thing is that the silverware was so old & tarnished. They looked like they were 10 years old. I asked for another set. She came back with another set that looked the same. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce. No spice at all. My food was so bland. Not sure why I'm even giving them a 2.
