In my opinion, La Michoacana offers some of the most authentic tacos in the North Charlotte area. I would describe it as tucked away--it's located between some of Charlotte's historically less desirable neighborhoods, but 1) I encourage everyone to explore these areas as they are full of the fabric that built Charlotte to the place it is today, and 2) sometimes these hidden spots turn out to be the best surprises or best-kept secrets. The restaurant is straightforward--it's not flashy or trendy, just genuinely good.Parking is limited; there's a small lot that's usually half-full, but it's shared with other businesses, so it can fill up quickly. I'd imagine the shopping center sees a good amount of business during the day, so congestion should be expected.Service is always quick, and while not all staff members speak English, the menu is available in both Spanish and English, making ordering easier. I almost always get a mix of chicken, steak, and pork tacos with green salsa (the best salsa!), and it never disappoints. Portion sizes are generous, and they also offer meat by the pound, which is great for catering or entertaining if you're looking for even larger quantities.Pricing is reasonable--about the same as your favorite chain Mexican grill. This is my go-to spot for tacos, pupusas, and quesadillas, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a new place to try."

In search of authentic tacos, I found myself here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I ordered the 3 tacos with onions and cilantro. They don't offer chips but do have salsa. They have tables for eating in but the parking can be a challenge because of the busy area they're in. The tacos were good overall although one was a little dry.

The Aesthetic: Authentic Mom and Pop, no frills, counter service spot with incredible dishes galore. The Price: You get a massive amount of food for what you pay, and I mean 2-3 meals out of your main dish massive. It is by far the best value for the most authentic Mexican food in the city. The Parking: I won't sugarcoat it, this plaza is a nightmare. It's one of those poorly designed, tight plaza parking lots CLT loves. I park further away by the gas station to avoid tight situations. My Order: The Quesabirria with the consome every single time. It looks like nothing in my photos, but you are not going to believe the cheese pull. It's endless! Take home a couple chicharron for the road and an Agua Jamaica, and you'll have leftovers tomorrow. The Conclusion: It's the most authentic Mexican in CLT and it's a must try, do not sleep on this spot.

This place is just straight up authentic and delicious Mexican food. The pico is some of the best I've ever had. Chips were so crispy and fresh. They have so many taco options to chose from- my personal favorite was the birria. The quesadilla was stuffed and heavy full of cheese and chicken. I tried a papusa that was delish and would love to try one with more than just cheese next time. The inside is nothing to sit and enjoy so I recommend take out as we did- although they do serve alcohol there. You absolutely cannot go wrong here and I'm just sad we didn't find this place sooner and having been wasting our time with other Mexican places!!

My food was prepared in about 10 minutes during lunch time but they were not busy at all which was surprising to me. I would say the cons are the prices are HIGH for the value of the food. It's about $2 too high. The inside in small best to get take out. The parking lot is small and crapped and there were a lot of "parked" cars with no license plate which was weird. This is not a safe neighborhood. The gas station next door looks extremely scary. Ladies do not come here alone. I felt like the men were undressing me with their eyes they literally stopped eating and just stared LOL. My quesadilla had a lot of shrewd beef and only a little cheese that wasn't fully melted. But the time I got it home it was completely soggy so I put in the air fryer and it was edible. I was craving a taco but refused to pay almost $4 per taco. No way. So I will NOT be coming back to this place. If you like spending $20 for lunch for authentic Mexican food then this is the place for you but not for me. Also I saw the kids meal was $10. What ?!?!?! That is crazy price. If their prices were lower I would have even another star rating.

This. Place. Is. Fireeeeeee. Please skip those corporate Tex Mex places and come here. You're not gonna get fancy service. This ain't On The Border or Uncle Julio's. Step outside your comfort zone, come here and support a local business. I've have the Carne Asada and Chicken combo plate. It was SO FREAKING GOOD. They have margaritas, Mexican beers and a good selection of Jarritos and other N/A bevs. A plus? Just next door they have a Carneceria. Skip Food Lion and get some marinated steaks, chicken, pork from here. My boyfriend and I bought some the other night and we put it on our grill and made tacos with it for a party we were having. AMAZING. Y'all, do yourself a favor and try this place out. Keep an open mind!

Holy crap Batman! They have authentic Michoacana food in the middle of Derita of all places!Derita......Insert mouth drop...Insert Guy Fieri saying "flavortown"Ctrl + Alt + Del all of your other plans. This is where your next meal should come from. You can't go wrong with any of their combo plates. Sopes are next level. Don't waste time trying to cut them with a knife and fork. Make it happen and pick it up like you would a personal pie or a really big cookie and take the largest bite possible. Pupusas ftw. Get the bean & cheese and make sure you put that slaw all over that bad boy. You can't mess it up. Salsas? Free and flowing. All 3 are out of this world. Some days I think the roja is god's gift but then other days it's the verde. All served in plastic squeeze bottles so go overboard. Oh yeah, they also serve Corona Familiar. Not familiar with Corona Familiar? You better get familiar because it's the best Mexican beer you'll ever have. What are you waiting for...
