La Ceiba

La Ceiba is one of the best hole in the wall gems in Salisbury. We've been going for years... they've moved around a bit but are now in the Fulton Heights area, right on Fulton Road. Everything is delicious. I love hearing the slapping of fresh tortillas and pupusas happening in the kitchen. I'm from Central America and this food is legit and authentic. And CHEAP!!! For the amount of food you receive, the price point is one of greatness. There can be a bit of a wait sometimes but it's worth it. For under $10, you can have a taco, a sope, and revuelta plus it brings slaw and mild or hot salsa. Chef kiss goodness!

The food was okay, the pupusas were good but the prices are way incorrect. Its a big inconvenience especially since they only take cash, the prices are almost $10 more than whats the listed on the menu. We asked them if we couldve switched out the drink that we did not drink for something different n still got charged for extra drink. N when pointed out were stared out like were delusional. The ppl are nice but def a big inconvenience n couldnt even fix or acknowledge the problem with them.

Disappointing food and service. Restaurant needs updated and bathrooms were not clean. Papusas were good but the baleadas, yuca and chicarrones did not have any seasoning or flavor. Prices at register ALOT higher than on menu. There is a sign saying prices will be higher but you don't know how much anything costs until it's rang up. My husband left his food uneaten and still had to pay for it. Actually had to go elsewhere and feed him after just spending $40 on lunch here.

I was really pleased by this restaurant. It is a rather normal atmosphere, nearly full with hispanic customers all speaking Spanish. All the staff seems happy and is conversing in Spanish. But, despite complaints I saw about this, I had no problem communicating in English. The waiter was extremely helpful and wellspoken. He gave me samples, since I was unfmiliar with many Latin American dishes and how they differ from what we call Mexican in the USA.The orders came reasonably quickly. All made fresh. The papusas, their specialty, are amazing. But, the fajitas are perfect. Burritos, etc. None are really Mexican. Special cuisine of their place, El Salvador. One person complained they don't take credit card. Well, that reviewer is a dunce. There's a huge sign that says in English and Spanish that they only take cash and to pay at the counter. He should change his review and number of stars.They were very welcoming and kind. Packed place, because the food is super and the cost is more than reasonable.I will return whenever I'm in town.

I have been to several Latin American restaurants throughout the Piedmont area and this is by far my favorite! The tortillas are hand made, as is almost every order. The pupusas are a must try! If you're in a hurry but still want to dine-in, you can call ahead to have the food ready by the time you arrive. There is a sign when you walk in the door (next to cash register) that explicitly says they only accept cash.

The food is hit or miss, sometimes it seems like someone forgot to season the food entirely. When the seasoning is right it tastes amazing, but else it's very bland.My biggest problem is pricing from their menu never matches what you end up paying. There's no itemized receipt either and they often end up forgetting items you ordered, but without an itemized receipt you never know if they added the charge without providing the item or not.The ambiguous nature of menu prices lends itself to discriminatory pricing. Unfortunately for that reason I will not be back. Based on the more recent reviews it seems they have chosen to continue this practice of discriminatory pricing. Also, it's cash only so that adds to the headache of how much cash to bring. There's no reason why the owner can't just take a marker or white out and update their pricing, leading me to believe this is intentional.

Tasty food but we were charged considerably more than menu price. Managements explanation was the posted prices were outdated.

VERY SLOW SERVICE!!!Although the service is slow, the food is very delicious but maybe not worth a 90 minute wait, you be the judge.

This address is wrong. La Ceiba moved to another location here's the address 1024 S Fulton .St Salisbury NC 28144 the real la Ceiba is wonderful and tasty with great service and cheap food
