Ku-Ru Sushi & Grill

On my extended work trip in Hickory, I stopped into Ku-Ru. The parking lot is very tight but fortunately I was able to find a spot. The restaurant is small but has a variety of seating options. I was seated at a booth and soon placed my order.I opted to try their hot sake. It was tasty and came in a really cute carafe. I ordered the sashimi sampler and a spicy tuna roll. Everything was very delicious. The sampler came with either a soup or a salad. I did NOT like the salad. It was just lettuce and I didn't finish it. Otherwise, the meal was on point and the prices were fair.Service was fantastic. I will say they didn't provide a dish for soy sauce and that was odd so I ended up just trying to put it on my plate which wasn't ideal. But other than that and the salad, this was a great sushi experience. It also appears as though they have a drive thru and that's pretty cool!

The service is always great. The first four or five times we really enjoyed the sushi and fried dumplings. But, the last three times we have been here the sushi has not been good. I think we will look elsewhere for sushi.

The service is excellent and the sushi is fresh, well-priced, and there are many options to choose from. I have eaten there many times, but I have never tried anything other than the sushi. I only have one objection - the seats in the booths have lost all their springs and need to be replaced!

I've been coming to this area for a few years and have driven past this place and thought it would be worth trying.We arrived on a Friday evening in the parking lot was full, so I was concerned if we would get a seat. We ended up having to park in the lot of the restaurant next-door. Luckily, the wait it was only about 15 minutes. The place was packed so apparently it's a popular spot in the areaThe waitress was very attentive and friendly, but she also apologized a lot which we couldn't figure out why.The food was just OK. I got the salmon teriyaki with fried rice and vegetables. I wish I would've gotten white rice. The fried rice had no flavor and very little vegetables. The broccoli was over done, and the carrots were large round discs and oddly sweet.If you've had great Japanese anywhere else, you will be very disappointed with this. If you're a custom to kind of basic food, this will work for you.I definitely won't be back when I'm in the area again.

There is something special about this sushi. The rice is so good. The fish is so fresh. There is quality in every bite. I have been very hungry on my way home from work, on numerous occasions, so I call ahead for carry-out. Unfortunately for you, that is the photograph you are seeing. Surprisingly amazing! My wife and I were craving sushi and found this little gem. Walking up it looks almost like a fast food chain, I even uttered the words "if this is like a Panda Express I'm not getting sushi" and boy am I glad I was wrong. When you walk in the door it's like you've gone to Narnia! It is a cute and fun traditional take on a Chinese restaurant. Everything was clean and cozy, and the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was incredible, some of the best sushi I've had so far! would recommend!

Great food and friendly staff! I got the Shrimp and scallops hibachi and spider roll. I was surprised by the size and amount of shrimp and scallops they gave me. The dragon roll was just the way I like it. I will definitely be eating there again.

Ku-Ru is tough to rate. My whole family loves it, but me, not so much. The staff is wonderful. Extremely friendly and welcoming. The dining area is always neat and clean, but the furnishings a little uncomfortable. The service is attentive but the food can be sometimes slow to come out. After going there for many years the menu is a little stale. I suppose the biggest issue is the small portions. I'm still hungry when I leave there. That's never a problem at the other Asian restaurants I frequent. I'm sure I'll be going there again at the behest of my family, but I would avoid it if it were up to me.

always enjoyed this place. web says open until 9. went by and all chairs up on tables. no more sit down dinning. this was 7:30. save your time. go somewhere else.

The food was DELICIOUS and the service was Absolutely on point... Their Deluxe Sashimi and Teriyaki Noodles with Sirloin were off the chain good ... If you haven't been here yet, your missing out!
