The soup was above average. It's always pretty good but last night there was sooooo much flavor to it. Our chef was funny and a good cook. It was on a Wed night so we had no trouble getting seated right away. It was just the 2 of us so we were seated with another couple and a family of 4.

I've been going to Kobe for decades, but lately I think the quality has been lacking. It used to be special, and the flavors were intense. On my last visit the service was rushed as heck, the server was surly and cut us off as we were ordering. The food was so lackluster. I would probably go once more to see if we just had a bad chef, but when your local fast food Japanese places are better than Kobe, it doesn't make sense to pay these prices just to see a chef bang spatulas together on a griddle while looking off into space.

The food is really good! It's so cool to see our food being made and served in front of us! My family loved the tricks and the fire. I love the Japanese style and the paintings. For anyone who wants to see servers juggling knives and huge fires in front of them and taste great food; I recommend Kobe.Unfortunately, the above positives were severely diminished by the attitude of our server. She was very rude in her comments and questions about our entree choices. She certainly did not want to be at the restaurant that night. In the end, we were charged tips involuntarily. You need pay attention to your check very carefully so that you won't pay additional tips if you don't want to.I hope the staff and manager at Kobe will realize that the wait staff has a huge impact on the customers experience. I will certainly not come back again.

I've never seen so many See You Next Tuesdays working in one place.We walked in and stood for a few minutes. I saw they were busy. The waitresses would walk by and stare and not say anything. So when we saw the first table cleared off we went for it, we thought it had been cleaned off, it wasnt. When the server came to lay the menus down I asked if she could wipe down the table.She said, "Oh yall sat at a dirty table you'll need to get up"....I said alright, as she stared at us. she finally turned to get a towel.The food was good, the table behind us also sat at a dirty table and the waitress told them they should have sat at a clean table. The guy sitting apologized for making the server upset.Once our food came out, our ticket was laid on the table, and we never saw her again.

Food was delicious! We have just moved to this area, we have been to many of the Japanese restaurants in the Raleigh and surrounding area. This one in Hickory is the top of my list now! Wow! We had teriyaki chicken and Filet it was fantastic! The cabbage tops off the dish!Service was great and we were overall very pleased! Highly recommend!

On 2-23-25 we visited what had been one of our favorite local restraunts for a family members birthday. For over 25 years we have come and supported this establishment. One of our visitors has egg allergies, so that was asked to cook the rice seperate and extra crispy, this was an imperial dinner upgraded to ribeye, usual choice. Upon request the chef, later told name was William, snarled. As usual I leave my plate back a bit in case there is a mistake. William, not only ignored the request with an attitude but slung the rice across the spacing to the plate, few little pieces went over and on me. I got up and went to get a manager, whom stated he was the head chief and not acted like this before. By time I got to sit, noticed all the shrimp was standard, not jumbo, steak was over cooked. This is where things get interesting, I mentioned the shimp, something I've ordered at least 10 plus times a year for many years, and she stated imperials get regular shrimp. Now, in 25 years, the menu states and still states it's jumbos. Now the lady did discount 8 off, we will ignore the overcharged ribeye upgrade at 200%, but to worst thing was the tip was forced in, so the chef with an attitude messing with peoples food is rewarded for his poor attitude. Pictures of chef, him throwing rice over the soup to the plate and portions are on google review etc. Once he cocked an attitude of superiority over the request I had a feeling it was going to be bad, glad I videoed it all.

Great experience with the hibachi chef. very friendly and conversational. the food was very accommodating for a big group, especially someone with a lot of allergies. Overall a good experience. would say the protein was great but could have better fried rice.

Kobe's dropped the ball tonight. Went there for my birthday and they split up our party due to their seating arrangement but still added the 18% gratuity to everyone's bill. The waitress had most of the party's order wrote down wrong and we had to straighten it out with the chef. We had to ask the manager to get someone to refill our drinks because the waitress quit showing up until it was time to bring the bill. My wife ordered the birthday cake for me and it didn't show up so we had the lady take it off the bill and when we were getting up the waiter showed up with it. Then he has a smart mouth with me. Probably be a long time until we go back if ever.
