I finally got to check out Katsu Kart! I've been so eager to try this spot out and got the opportunity after attended a super fun cooking class with their very on Chef Perry at Super G Mart in Pineville. The food truck was serving up their food in the parking lot and I had to try!I ordered the hot honey chicken katsu sando and OMG! This sando was legit delicious!!!! From the crisp breadiness on the fried chicken to the the hot honey, to the spicy mayo. It was a flavor explosion like no other and I'm only mad at myself for waiting so long to try. This sando was HUGE TOO!! Like, massive and I can absolutely see why the price is $14 for just the sandwich. It's all you need lol.I was so so happy with this meal and the only reason this wasn't a five star experience is because of the guy taking orders. He was extremely unfriendly. I walked up and said hello, super excited to finally try this food truck and he literally just looked at me and didn't say a word. He didn't even ask if he could take my order. I literally said "ooooookay, may I have the...." And just proceeded to order my food. It was really awkward and off putting. I watched him treat a few customers after me the exact same way. Seemed like he genuinely just didn't want to be at work and was angry or upset about something, and if that's the case he may want to explore a new job. Otherwise, this was a great freakin meal and I would absolutely have it again!!

The chicken katsu sandwiches are very good. The crispiness on the chicken and the soft bread are a winning combination. My only critique is they come with more mayo than I would like. Wish there was a way to ask for less on the online ordering.

The food is great. The people treat you the way you deserve to be treated. Everyone is equal and no one is made to feel like they're less important.

Tried the Prime Brisket Dip Sando (which was a special) and Cheesy Potato Korokke. The curry sauce with the brisket was delicious. It was so filling. I could only eat half of the sandwich. The Cheesy Potato Korokkes are an order of 2 potato cakes. They were full of garlic but weren't as cheesy as I had seen on their IG page. I also didn't like them with the Katsu sauce. I shared one cake with friends and didn't end up finishing the other. This truck is well worth giving a try and experiencing their take on Japanese sandwiches.Katsu Kart Food truck(Review 731 overall and 76 in 2022)

We finally managed to drive out to Hopfly Brewery, where we found this unique food truck!Well, my husband and I both love Katsu, so we got 3 varieties to share...the OG, Karai and the Kakiage "Sandos"...with an order of Fries.First of all, these sandwiches were huge...and for the amount of food you get, it was priced reasonably. Although I found the Karai a touch TOO spicy, I thought it was pretty good. Really, all the sandos tasted good...but just a bit shy of great. We couldn't really put a finger on it. We might have expected a better batter of Katsu maybe? Also, the milk bread wasn't as thick as expected...rather, they were long and thin! Lastly, and possibly the worst part, was the presentation. I know these are just sandwiches, but they looked rather crude...very slapstick. It wasn't a busy night...so I thought they could have put a little more effort into making these "sandos" a bit more presentable? Surpringly, I was more impressed with their tasty Fries than the sloppy sandwiches.Unfortunately, I've seen some greater, prettier versions of these Katsu sandwiches (nicely cut and neatly stuffed into softer, fluffier milk breads!), so these super-sloppy food truck versions were rather disappointing. Still, am glad to know that Charlotte has a place that serves Katsu sandwiches...so YAY for that.

I have been stalking this food truck for 2 months. For some reason I didn't realized it's only 5mins from my job in Southend. And that their permanent location is outside of Hopfly Brewery. Came by to order two Sandos to take home. The OG Sando 4/5: which is a battered chicken patty fried and placed on their milk bread. Paired with cabbage and sauces had up to the long drive home. The fried battered chicken still have that crunch yet not dry at all. The Tonkatsu 4/5: a thick pork chop prepared the same way as the chicken katsu.. Just as good. Nice crunch and held up to the long drive home. I will ask for more cabbage next time.. and maybe more sauce on the side.

Katsu Kart is such an experience! I was a long time follower on IG before actually visiting their food truck located at Hopfly in Southend. They are known for their Japanese sandos and they don't disappoint. The milk bread could be a little fluffier in my opinion, but the flavors are amazing. My first visit I had the OG, which is fried chicken, shredded cabbage, katsu sauce, and their house mayo. Definitely tasty and a tad messy!Their katsu fries are my favorite item on their menu. The serving is large enough to share. The spicy mayo, crispy onions, and katsu sauce are what truly make the fries. My most recent trip I decided to try their loaded katsu dog, which was huge and a delicious mess. The sauce and the crunch from the onion make for a nice balance of textures. Their customer service is always friendly and welcoming. I'm always looking forward to my next visit!

Deeeeeelish! I've been wanting to try for awhile. Husband and I were going to a comedy show and weren't in the mood for places in the area so we decided to go to Hopfly for Katsu. So glad we did!We both got the OG and fries. Note - if there's two of you, you don't need two fries. they are so good though - the seasoning is fab. We almost got sandwiches and the loaded fries and I'm glad we didn't because the two sandwiches and one fry were absolutely enough. Was so sad to throw away the extras we couldn't eat. The sandwich is done so well. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and the flavors were great. I love the crunch of cabbage in there. Would absolutely get this again. I almost went to get a honeybear bake shop cookie for dessert before we left but was so full I just couldn't do it.Semi-pricey, but I wasn't at all disappointed with what I got so it was absolutely worth it.

I finally was able to try this place! I found it at the Matthews farmers market. I was surprised to find that they had a few options for breakfast. I opted for a $5 chicken biscuit because I knew I wanted to try the OG. The biscuit was small but great to hold me over. It was coated in a slightly spicy honey. The sandwich was the best part by far. The bread had a great texture and the sauce was killer. I def recommend. For a food truck with quick service, the wait time was only 5 minutes. They weren't super busy- it was only 10am. It was also right beside a coffee truck so I had no problem waiting and getting something warm to drink. I am looking forward to trying some other sandwiches!

Really good food truck! I had some of the Katsu fries. It came with a lot so I was able to split it with a few people! The chicken was super crunchy and the fries stayed nice and crispy underneath! Really good spicy sauce on top too.
