Kat's Patch Restaurant

I stopped by here around 3:05pm on a Saturday afternoon (1/25/25) after finishing a training nearby. I found this place on Google and decided to stop by as I wanted to try a local establishment. When pulling in, I noticed they have a drive thru window for call in orders. There is an entrance on both sides of the building. They have outdoor seating on one side. There was a lady in front of me who appeared to be a regular. My wait to order was brief. I told the cashier it was my first time there. She couldn't give me any solid recommendations as "I'm very picky" and "eat at the same restaurants" but "this isn't one" LOL. She added "I just work here." That gave me pause. I don't know many people who work at a food establishment that haven't had their food... especially if you work as a cashier. She did give some recommendations and I opted for a burger as she mentioned they are prepared and cooked fresh vs frozen patties. I ordered a Double bacon cheeseburger (with bbq sauce) with hush puppies and a sweet tea at 3:12pm. It was a little over $13. They take orders on a traditional order pad. I was given the bottom with a number when my order was ready. I was given a cup of ice to get my own drink. The sweet tea was PERFECT, Southern style sweet tea. They do have unsweetened tea and lemonade along with foundation drinks. My order was ready at 3:17pm, which was fairly quick. While seating, I noticed many tables were dirty and not cleaned, even though they were empty and had been for a while. The floor wasn't the clean either as I noticed trash and dirty under the tables and in the walking areas. I sat at the table by the TV. When looking up at it, I could tell it was dirty and hadn't been cleaned in a while. My hush puppies were hot and delicious. When I unwrapped my burger, I immediately noticed my bun was cold, which was disappointing. It was also dry... The patties were a decent temperature but the cold buns threw things off, for me. It looked and tasted like it was cooked well done. They didn't ask what temperature I wanted it cooked and it's likely because they may not know how to prepare the various styles. Most of the staff were young, likely teens or early 20s. I did see an older gentleman as well. I saw one staff scratching/rubbing his beard and his arm along with being on his phone in the food service/area. I saw another person scratching his neck and back. I didn't see either of them wash their hands afterwards. I was present when another order came in. The former put on one glove and began preparing the food... without washing hands. Apparently, there is no designated area for eating or drinking as I watched the staff do as they please around the kitchen. Honestly, they shouldn't be eating in the kitchen anyway... It was very unsanitary and I wished I hadn't witnessed the things that I did as I was eating. Staff need more training on food safety. Dining room needed attention and cleaning but staff opted to be in a circle and chit chat in the kitchen during down time. It wasn't busy at all during my 40 minutes there.With current operating procedures and practices, I do not and would not recommend this place. I don't plan on returning if I'm in the area again.

Did take out about 2-3 weeks ago. Not just one hair, but 2 were found in my baby girl's cheese burger. Called restaurant to let them know; they put the manager on phone and he advised if we bring the burger back, they would give us another one. And he apologized. We couldn't bring ourselves to eat there again. Based on the reviews, looks like it just may not be a clean enough place to eat at.

The food quality continues to decline alongside the service. Each time we visit it seems as though there is something wrong with our order or it is no good. Lacking flavor and often the incorrect temperature, the food could use improvement. The more people that are packed into the kitchen, the less it seems your order is heard. This used to be a go-to for the best BBQ in town - but now we'd rather spend elsewhere.

We were traveling thru Troutman during lunchtime and I found Kat's Patch on Yelp. It sounded like what we were looking for, so we stopped by. It was a slow-busy day, customers trickled in, but at a steady pace. It's been in business for a few decades, so we weren't surprised at the amount of people who knew each other. We ordered at the counter, sat in a booth, and had a brief wait, since the food is freshly prepared. Soon our food was ready. My husband ordered the "super pimento burger." (It was super because it was larger than the regular burger.) The burger was one of the best diner burgers we've tried. Hand molded, crispy edges, tender middle, and as tasty as could be. The pimento cheese was good, and the bun was very fresh. I had the foot long chili cheese dog. Simple, with American cheese, and a nice mild chili; the dog was grilled and the bun was soft. It was just what I wanted. We didn't order fries and I'm glad because the servings were just the right size.For dessert, we each had a fried apple hand pie. (I had seen the signs on the outside window and knew I just had to have one.) They were also made and cooked on demand and were absolute perfection: crispy, delicate crust, with a juicy apple pie filling. (Better than any other fast food place could dream of!)We are looking to come back for another enjoyable and very affordable lunch!(Tip: watch out upon entering the parking lot, there's a steep dip for low riding cars.)

The place was filthy! The floors and every table in the restaurant. I'm not sure the last time the floors were mopped, and it didn't look like the tables had been wiped down all day. We were there around 3:30. We had the cheesesteak sandwich. It was ok, but not much flavor, and fries were separate. The fries were undercooked. The meal was overpriced IMO. We will not eat there again.

I've worked in Statesville for the last 12 years and have dined here on numerous occasions. Service is spotty at best and there have been occasions where I ended up leaving before my meal was served .Today was no exception. Walked and went to the counter because there was no line. Ordered the Pork Chop Sandwich with Fries and unsweetened tea. Gave me the tab of the order pad that indicated I was #52. On my way they called #48 so not bad.25 minutes later we are up to # 51 but they are also calling out #57, 58 and #59.These are not double cut pork chops and do not take that long to cookWent to the counter and gave them my ticket and told them to give the meal to someone who is hungry.

Had breakfast here today and was delighted with my food. I ordered a baloney, egg and cheese biscuit. The egg was fluffy and the thick slice of baloney was twice the size of the biscuit. Everything was perfectly cooked. The staff were not particularly friendly and the place is not fancy at all. Rolls of paper towels placed on each table serve as napkins - my kind of place! The iced tea didn't have enough ice in it to properly cool the contents but the flavor was very good.

Food is good and you can't beat the price. Went for breakfast. The decor is not spectacular but you get what you pay for

Kat's Patch is a great experience when everything I've eaten has been great. I strongly recommend the eatery for fresh "HOT" food always.

DO NOT GO HERE The lady was very rude AND STOLE FROM ME taking 3 dollars out of my change as her own "tip" and food was mid
