Wife and I stopped in to sample the appetizer options. In summary , a good stop. We shared.... - aga dashi tofu .... Very good. Excellent tofu quality - assorted tempura vegetables...also very good. - pan fried gyoza ( 6 pork) - very tasty but could have been cooked a little longer and served warmer. + Spicy seaweed salad... Very good. - 2 sweet ice teas (coke products)Cost was $32 for 2 people Service was very good.We will be back to try the main course options!

I was unimpressed with my first experience at Kairu. I dined with several friends one weekend evening, and we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table since the hostess said the kitchen was backed up (even though there were several open tables). There isn't a waiting area inside the restaurant, so I'm glad Uptown Cheapskate was still open so we could browse while we waited.We started with the vegetable spring rolls. The spring rolls were slightly gummy inside, and I wasn't a fan.I ordered the Super Philly Roll. While the salmon was fresh, the roll wasn't covered in a traditional tempura batter. Instead, it was coated in bread crumbs and deep fried. I've never had bread crumbs on a sushi roll before, and it didn't do this dish any favors. (My friend's mixed tempura dish was similarly coated.)Our server was very helpful and friendly. I was disappointed, however, that all of our dishes came out at different times. There was a difference of 20 minutes between the earliest delivery and the last. Come on - this is not a tapas restaurant. You should be able to deliver the entire table's food at the same time. The interior is quite bland and almost utilitarian. It was also very cold inside, especially since I was sitting right next to,a window. Based on this experience, I don't plan to return.

Looking for a great sushi and noodle spot in the Lake Norman Area? Make your way to Kairu Sushi and Noodle Bar @kairusushi - located in Huntersville, NC. It's a great addition to the area and just minutes from Birkdale Village. The restaurant is spacious with murals throughout. They have so many options on their menu - appetizers, soups and salads, sushi, ramen, pho and hibachi and a kids menu. They also have a great lunch menu with combos and specials to choose from!My favorites were the Spicy Dynamite Mussels, the Tonkotsu Black Ramen, the Volcano Roll sushi and the sashimi spread! The food was really good, flavorful and came in large quantities! I sat at the bar alone at noon on a Thursday. It took about 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge me and take my drink order. Many of the servers seemed new, but they all helped each other nicely. This was my first visit. It is in the former New Orleans style restaurant. The furnishings are much the same as the former tenant. I had intended to order the red tonkatsu, but one of the lunch specials caught my eye on the menu. I ordered the Udon noodle special. My food emerged from the semi-open kitchen in about 15 minutes. It was a surprisingly large tray of food for $16. The gyoza were OK, the shrimp tempura were respectable and the sushi was so-so. Wasabi was fresh and spicy. Edamame was appropriately salted. The udon noodles were thick and not overcooked. The broth was fantastic. I dropped the extra wasabi in for a little flair. Kairu is now my favorite spot for lunch since Daniel San closed.

Truly amazing! The food and service was incredible. We had gyzo, spicy tuna sushi and chicken hibachi. Our server was Sophie and she was very attentive on whatever we needed. I will definitely be back for the sushi.

This is my 4th time coming, and I have not been disappointed!!My favorite was today-- the oyakodon bowl, but their hibachi is just as wonderful. Tonkatsu is flavorful, and the sushi is fresh and to die for!!!Welcoming atmosphere, kind servers, and delicious food.

We've been in Charlotte for over a year and tried many recommendations. One day we discovered Kairu, and it's a wrap! Delicious, fresh, and reasonable prices. You know it's good sushi when it's still fresh the next day! So now it's become a weekly staple and worth the drive!

This is a new very cozy restaurant in my area. The menu is expansive and mostly sushi rolls, but they also have bao buns and other Asian meals. I had the teriyaki salmon with veggies and rice, and the plate was loaded. The meal was really good, but the salmon was a little overcooked. I still ate all of it because it was so tasty. We also had pork dumplings, bao buns, crab rangoons and Korean fried chicken. I enjoyed all of it, but my husband doesn't like his chicken crispy. We ordered online, which was really easy. We weren't able to experience table service because of that, however, our order was ready when we got there. I will definitely return to try other menu items.
