Eh...I had high hopes for this Kabuto but was let down. We had 6pm reservations and the hostess called us up at 6pm as if she was ready to seat us, however we ended up standing there for several minutes. I asked her why she called us up to be seated if she wasn't ready. We sat back down. 5 minutes later they were ready for us in a private dining area away from the main dining room. The a/c was not on in this room. Several other patrons along with myself were fanning our bodies with menus. I had to approach the hostess again to let her know it was not on, which she claimed it was. Minutes later you could hear it come on and the room cooled off. The waitress came to take orders - she had no personality; was not friendly and rushed us. She was very robotic and monotone when she talked to everyone.It took an hour for the cook to come out to prepare our orders. We all were starving at this point. He was friendly, but not really knowledgeable on how to cook meats. All the steak was well done (we ordered medium to medium well), the salmon was overcooked, scallops were a little under. We had a vegetarian meal that was subpar (not sure how you mess that up). The shrimp was cooked well. Needless to say this will be my first and last visit to this location!

We walked in with no reservations and the hostess seemed confused, there were two empty tables and she said she'd check. Came back said she would clean the table and seat us, took like 10 minutes. We were seated and the waitress was pretty confused and hard to talk to. She didn't seem to understand some words and was in general pretty bad. I asked her to clarify something on the menu and she had to ask someone else who had to ask a 3rd person. Anyway, the cook was great, funny and good food. The waitress mixed up the checks/cards with the couple sitting beside us. When asked for boxes she brings out tiny to go boxes. I asked another sever for a larger box, she seemed annoyed but brought out some larger tin containers. I asked for to go shrimp sauce she brought a lid for the one I already had on the table not a fresh one. We won't be back

We had a reservation and after we've been waiting hour and a half just about to close 9 pm , manager came say I'm sorry but they still want to charge you as a good full service , they weren't busy at all , just unacceptable !! Have your customers waiting for 1 1/2 hours Definitely won't recommend neither with a reservation.!!The worst experience ever !!!That was my boy birthday and ruined and practically he dine by himself because we were the last ones and no one in the restaurant because they all already gone .(customers) which that's what you paying for .. the experience of seeing the show and enjoying with other people.

We tried Kabuto's hibachi family menu during COVID, as we had seen a few photos of this meal through the Lake Norman Curbside Dining Facebook group, and it looked pretty good. Sadly, looks are deceiving. While they give you a good deal of food for the cost ($40 for the hibachi family meal), there were a lot of misses. First, they serve spaghetti noodles instead of traditional lo mein noodles in their garlic noodles dish. Second, their fried rice is almost flavorless. Third, their veggies are mostly onions, with a few pieces of broccoli and zucchini mixed in. The best part of our meal was the shrimp. They used jumbo shrimp, and it was cooked perfectly. The portion of shrimp was very large, too.My husband and I both had headaches later that evening, either due to the sodium content (even though things didn't taste too salty as we were eating), or the inclusion of MSG for flavoring. Either way, neither of us want to return.

I ordered the seafood trio- the shrimp & scallops were good but the salmon was sour. When brought to the managers attention- he didn't seem to care and would not reduce the price to the shrimp & scallop price. Service was not very friendly. I do t plan on ever going back.

We waited for our food/service for an hour and the woman at the counter was extremely passive aggressive and gave additional dirty looks. The table we were supposed to sit at was out of order so we also had to sit next to a group of other strangers who had multiple children who were also forced to wait just as long as our group.

Do not waste your time!!! It was horrible from beginning to end. Hardly any meat given. Horrible service. Charges an extra $20 to share an entree. Management was absolutely the worst I've ever experienced. DO NOT GO!
