Kabuto Japanese Steak House & Sushi Bar

This is your classic early 2000s hibachi steakhouse. Equipped with the gimmicks as the fake ketchup bottle, onion volcano + train, and the cheesy jokes. Generous portions. Pro tip: it's not listed on the menu, but instead of hibachi chicken or steak, you can order teriyaki chicken and teriyaki steak.

I just had this place for the first time just now. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Today I decided to go with the hibachi steak with the veggies. All of the food was as you would expect but it was a little on the salty side. That may just have been me though. The cook and the waitress were on point so 4 stars.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years especially on Wednesdays and Thursdays for half off sushi! The owner is super kind and friendly a these are the type of people that remember you and I love that. It is very spacious. Whether dine in or take out it's always a good experience. Highly recommend I'm eat there frequently.

This has become an awful place and is overcharging for everything. First, the hostess is a rude, arrogant hateful witch. I had food cans for my granddaughter to eat free per their website. When I got there they said you couldn't use it tonight because it is a holiday. Valentine's Day is NOT a holiday. Plus their website did not omit the day. The manager guy said it was on social media, checked, it was not. False advertising. The food was average not the quality for that price. The other thing was wrong, they are now including the tip on parties (4) or more, but they don't tell you, so you double tip. That is misleading and just plain wrong. They still do not have paper menus, you have the scan code. Which doesn't have the tip policy. This place don't care about you, they are rude and not happy to see you. Go where they are happy to see you and your family and want you to be there!

Loved everything about Kabuto! The shrimp was fantastic, the steak was tender and nicely seasoned, and the chicken was superb! The vegetables, of course, were fantastic, but I do wish that there had been mushrooms. I especially loved the sign on the front door, asking patrons to please lower their hoodies, pull up their pants, turn off their cell phones, and not come in if they smell like weed... I think these are appropriate requests that any business could and should have of its patrons. It is only common decency to not go out in public smelling awfully so that you make other people around you want to be sick in their own laps, to take your extremely loud conversation on the telephone to another area, and to be dressed in a way that is not offensive to people.

As someone new to Charlotte and a love of sushi...what better time to comb the city looking for sushi on INTERNATIONAL SUSHI DAY!!! I asked around and someone recommended I come and here and they were spot on. I walked into a warm welcome and an invitation to sit right in front of the chef since I was by myself. I was not disappointed, at the chef picked my dishes for me based on a few questions. His selections were sp good that I asked for another roll to go. If you decide to go DM me on Yelp and I will gladly go with you as I love making friends and eating darn good sushi

I usually am not the woman to write bad reviews on restaurants but I am in utter shock. I'm not sure If this place is deleting my Google review but I can't seem to post it. To start off I can't even begin to explain how furious I am after this experience. Chef Freddy was an absolute disaster. Not only was the food disgusting--dry, flavorless, and completely rushed--but his whole attitude was completely unacceptable. I asked for his name, and he straight-up lied, giving me a fake one. I had to ask the waitress to get the truth! Then, he was just flat-out rude to her, rolling his eyes and acting like he hated being there. It's clear he has zero respect for his job, the staff, or the customers. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had, and I will NEVER step foot in this place again. Do yourself a favor and avoid it!

First time being here and everyone was very welcoming and the food was great and had huge portions. The staff was polite and frequently checked up on us on our drinks and other needs. Definitely recommend to anyone craving a good hibachi place.

I paid $10 for two Miso soup containers (that included a service charge) that turned out to be barely over half full. Not happy with one of my favorite restaurants.

Once again Kabuto does not disappoint! We will continue to hit this spot up for any special occasion. Super clean, excellent staff. If you don't get a crazy fun chef I will still guarantee great service and great food!
