Love the expansion from the food truck to this spot. I got several items to go. My favorite was the Lao sausage with sticky rice, so unbelievably delicious. Next time I plan to get several orders. The Lao papaya salad was pungent and authentic the way I like it. I also tried several to go sticky rice desserts. The banana and sticky rice roll was the closest to street food I had in Thailand. I would like to go back and tried more items. If you want authentic Lao foods, definitely give it a try.The interior is casual fast food.

Authentic Laos cuisine in Charlotte!I was floored when I searched on Yelp for Thai cuisine and found this taste of Laos instead. My first visit here was at lunchtime during the workday. The exterior is clean, as well as the interior. The ambiance is equivalent to that of a fast-food restaurant. The food is elevated. When I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the cashier. I informed her that it was my first visit, and she was super polite, explaining the menu and giving her recommendations.I ultimately ordered a broth-based soup that equates to a pho with thicker rice noodles. The broth was flavorful, and the thicker noodles absorb that flavor nicely. The meatballs had a great texture and flavor as well, and the temperature of the dish was piping hot. My nose was a bit congested, and my stomach was a bit unsettled on this particular day, and this helped. For dessert, I had a dish that had sweetcorn, purple, sweet potato, and tapioca pearls in a sweetened coconut cream that was divine. It was the perfect end to a great experience. I've eaten here a few times since and enjoyed absolutely every dish, including the phenomenal chicken skewers. Anything you get here is a guaranteed home run.

It's my first time here! I never got to try their food truck so I can't compare that.I love the self serve selection of food on display. I really love their pork sausage and sticky rice!Their Laos papaya salad uses fermented fish sauce so it's funkier than the Vietnamese style.Once you order and pay, they will call you up and it's quite fast. They answered my questions as I'm still uncultured with Laotian cuisine! Super helpful. This is definitely a cozy hole-in-the-wall vibes. Family business feel. It's a bit far from me personally but I'd love to come again

Cute little restaurant with lots of decorations! Tried other food options that I didn't take a picture of. Service was good but did take some time to get our plates. We arrived early in the morning so we were able to get the Taro and Pandan fresh and warm. (Come early they go quick) Loved the different selection of chips and Laos reusable bags and lamp shades.

The food tastes authentic and it's fairly priced. It's nice they have grab and go options too. This stemmed from their successful food truck business, and I'm glad they're doing well. The staff who we ordered from was knowledgeable, friendly, and polite. We came on Lunar New Year for dinner and it wasn't busy at all. Our toddler loved the food, so I'd say it was a hit. The reason I didn't go for 5 stars is the bathroom wasn't super clean and they only had single use plastics.

Come support this place! Great food at extremely reasonable prices! I REALLY like the Lao style sausage with just some sticky rice. But noodles, soups and everything I've had has been great. Some things taste unique and more traditional Laotian. Some things seem more like an Americanized play on dishes kind of like what you see at a lot of Chinese restaurants (outside of NY, San Fran, etc....). I need to try more dishes, but so far the sausage is my favorite. Most meals are right around $10, with some bigger mixed protein options being close to $15. You can't go wrong, try it all!

They took over the old Hardee's restaurant that used to be there and some updates still need to be done to remove the remaining logos of Hardee's. Not sure what vibe they're aiming for but the inside is very informal. I believe their menu is a la carte and made to order similar to the Food Truck they had (or still have). Anyways, came here for a quick lunch with a friend.Order: chicken wings and papaya salad.Overall value of the food is good, reasonably priced and the service is quick. One improvement I would recommend would be for the salad, which wasn't salty or flavorful enough. I've had Laotian friends who have made me papaya salad and the marinate they make was more shrimp pasty, more fish saucy and had more boldness to the tastebuds.

It was raining today and we wanted to finally make the drive to JP LaoFood ToGo for the first time and boy were we NOT disappointed.Food is superb! Customer service is what you expect from an Asian restaurant. The overall establishment is a reasonable size. It's fast food almost style but the dining area is large and can sit easily 8-10 tables Pricing was on point & serving size was generous! The side green sauce was delicious. We enjoyed the noodle soup, the Laos sausage meal with sticky rice, and lastly their amazing minced chicken plate. We left nothing to spare and overall spent under $40 with 3 entree dishes and drinks (ordered on a second receipt)We don't get a lot of Laos options here in Charlotte but I'm just happy to know we have one EXCELLENT restaurant. I also LOVE how they have quick meals to go. We ended up buying a bunch of packed meals to take home with us.There's a saying.... If you don't see the children of the owners in the front area or doing something at the restaurant you might have to ask yourself if it's really authentic. Asians are less concerned about how pretty a place is outside but more importantly the value/taste of their overall meal Grade: A PS: I wish we had one closer on our side of town but it's worth the 35 minute drive or if you're passing by near the CLT airport

Came here for a business trip, driving to the airport, and craved Asian food. So glad we found this hole in the wall!! The food hit the spot. It seems family owned and they were so nice. We had the Thai basil beef fried rice with a fried egg. We also got the Lao sausage with chili and sticky rice. Both were delicious. Even the rental car clerk asked where we are because our leftovers smelled so good. That's saying something!

Food was great and service was pretty quick. This more of a fast-food type of place, but there are quite a few booths available if you want to eat in.
