Jones Fish Camp

The best seafood in the area. The owner travels to the coast weekly for seafood and specials. Great sides, especially the slaw and hush puppies.

Finally got a chance to try this place and it is OK but nothing spectacular.Starting back in the early 2000's, I volunteered at the Catawba Correctional Facility with inmates who were getting ready to be released after serving their time or parole. Transitioning back into society can be a big challenge for these guys.I lived in Cornelius and as a consequence' drove by once a week on the way home. Parking lot was always crowded which is a good sign.Since we moved to Denver almost two years ago, I made it a point of putting this place on my "to do" or bucket list. A bit of a problem because the yelp listing showed that they were open for lunch on most days. Not the case. They are no longer open for lunch and they indicated that had asked Yelp to correct this. They said they did not have the password for the account which makes little since.I went onto my account and went to their listing and made the corrections and in the comment section, asked yelp to give them a call and verify. Two days later it was changed.Went up tonight for dinner (15 minutes away) and it was good but what I had was not great. Very dry and not flaky but at least it was not oily. Onion Rings and Fried Okra were very good. Smallest Hushpuppy's I've ever seen but Watson the Corgi loves them.Heavy accent on pine in the interior and reminds me of the Fish Camps that used to be along the Catawba West and South of Charlotte back in the early 1970"s.Service is pretty good but the server was overwhelmed even with just a few customers present. From what I could see, they have a very good take out business which accounts for the overload. Got there early at 4pm so it was not the peak of rush hour and she did indicate that someone else was set to come in later to help.Very extensive menu and maybe I just need to try something else. Will find out the next time I go.

First time at a fish camp and it was a pleasant experience. The staff were great and I had my first catfish dinner. Wow it was great ! Hush puppies were delicious, my wife had the shrimp and she raved about it

I love this place. I have been going to jones since I was a kid and I'm 60 now and I still go there. Garrett the grandson runs it now and it hasn't changed much in 60 years.

Good food, friendly staff, and a local comfortable place to eat. I mostly get take out but have eaten in person and I have never had any issues with my food or service.

I celebrated my 50th birthday last night at Jones Fish Camp and it was delicious! As a child, my family went to Jones every week. The food was always yummy! As I got older, times changed and businesses closed. My family drove over an hour to eat there and we were not disappointed! The flounder was big portions, hot and crispy. The tartar sauce and sour slaw was everything I remembered as a child! I will definitely be going back soon! Their nostalgia of the original fish camp with the check out counter stocked with the old school candies brought back so many great memories of good food, family, friends and fellowship.

For those of you who aren't old enough to remember what a "fish camp" is, this is it! 3rd generation of family ownership. Scratch-made tartar sauce, onion rings slaw and hush puppies. Catfish fillet meal is strips, not a full slab. Still delicious; not greasy, and batter was not over-salty. Service was a slow for the size crowd. Server was managing 4 tables with total of 7 people. Never refilled my drink. Was offered more hush puppies, but they never arrived. Also got the wrong slaw: ordered sweet and received sour. I'll come back for the good. food, but probably lean towards take-out next trip5 food and 2 star service.

Friday used to be packed, no more. Not the place it used to be except they now have beer. Food is overpriced even for a mediocre restaurant. Service was lacking due to obvious understaffing.

Great service and delicious fish!! Home town kinda atmosphere. There hush puppies and tartar sauce are fantastic. Try the whole flounder if available

Great service, friendly staff and great food. The staff is fast and helpful. Very nice pond with live ducks you can feed! The new addition in the back looks great! Definitely will eat again.
