I ordered the stew beef over rice with sweet potato fries, candied yams, and green beans. The stew beef was pretty good and I loved the sweet potato fries. However, the green beans were unseasoned and tasted like they just poured them out of the can and warmed them up. The yams were from a can for sure and were not good at all.I've been back twice since my last visit. I got the barbecue sandwich with sweet potato fries and the BBQ was very good. I forgot to ask for sauce but the slaw made up for that. However, my last visit I got the turkey and dressing with mash potatoes and corn and it was awful. I've never had Turkey and dressing with brown gravy. It was weird. The mash potatoes are instant potatoes and the corn wasn't buttered or seasoned at all. The dressing was salty. I'm pretty sure I'll only go back for the barbecue and sweet potato fries.

I wasn't going to make this review until my son had the same experience today at this restaurant. I came here a week ago and the service was absolutely amazing. all the ladies in the front were smiling and greeting me. I sat down and my waitress came to the table in less than 5 seconds, greeted me once again and took my order. I ordered a standard breakfast plate, but my grits come out cold. I asked the waitress to heat them up and she had no problem doing so. I was sitting pretty close to them and I heard her ask the kitchen to heat them up and kitchen staff seemed to catch an attitude. I got done with half my plate and the grits weren't out yet, so I stopped my waitress and asked, she went back and asked about the grits and the kitchen staff caught another attitude and practically threw the grits on the window at her. The waitress seemed really upset after the altercation (I couldn't hear exactly what the kitchen said but it definitely wasn't good.) When she brought my grits to the table I asked her how she gets treated here, she responded with "if we make a mistake the whole world is ending back there" and I assured her it wasn't her fault the grits were cold, but she assured me the kitchen thought different. My son went for his first time and had a similar experience today with seeing the kitchen treat the front staff like crap! Its ridiculous. I believe i got 2 over medium eggs, sausage patty, grits and a biscuit, food was okay could be seasoned a little more.

Our experience here was less than desirable. Our waitress was more interested in eating her own breakfast than to wait on our table. The food was not good at all. I couldn't eat my country ham because it was so tough. My husband's livermush was so greasy it was swimming on his plate. Then when it was brought to the waitresses attention she thought it was humourous. Overpriced for the quality of food and staff ability. Management needs to get it together!

The server was perfect explaining how things work since we were new to the area, I wanted this place to be our new hangout. We all ordered the special, it was good, but we ordered the eggs over hard and broke, they came not broke and almost soft . We sent mine back as they we runny, I was told that was over hard and they don't do broke. The waitress was afraid they would fire her. My husband talked to the cashier and then the owner even calling back later to get it settled, but they wouldn't budge on his idea of home I want my eggs. We are faithful breakfast time patrons 3 as a week. So 3 mouths 3x a week... because the owner wanted to be right. He lost my business

Food: 2 stars (details to follow)Service and atmosphere: 3 starsLets's begin with the latter. I was greeted politely and told to sit wherever I wanted. My waitress was sweet, patient and attentive. The place is decorated with NASCAR memorabilia, but the real treasure in the aforementioned atmosphere is the local color. The patrons are wonderfully country, but cannot be described, but instead must be experienced. As for the former, unfortunately, the food was a bit of a disappointment. On a positive note, the eggs were absolutely perfect, and both the sausage and bologna were flavorful, but the portion was only one slice of each. The grits were smooth and creamy and well portioned, but had an off flavor that I likened to field corn. The biscuits were average at best, and made me long more than ever for my mother's. The coffee was extremely thin and weak.Summary: really nice people serving unremarkable food in a neat country atmosphere.

Have visited Johnson's 3 times, and plan to keep coming back. The servings are big and the service is great. It's a nice family- run place. They have good breakfast and lunch. My husband loves the Big Johnson burger. The country ham biscuit is my favorite. I don't think they're open for dinner.

They have the best burgers in NC. I think it's only 9.99 for a large burger and fries. Fries are also phenomenal. They give you drinks in Styrofoam with the pebble ice which is the best. It's a large dining area so it can accommodate large parties. It is Nascar themed too.
