Hunan Express Chinese Restaurant

I love this spot! The shrimp or chicken with garlic sauce is the best I've ever had! Perfectly cooked shrimp in a garlicky slightly sweet brown sauce. Yum! Steamed rice on side with all main orders. Combo orders are half meat veg and half steamed rice but the full orders are easily 2 servings and worth the price. My partner always gets the moo goo Gai pan, basically chicken and veggies in a white sauce. Always delicious and always on time! Good prices and quick meals.

Decided to try this place as I was on a hunt for Chinese soup. Ordered the wanton egg drop and hot and sour soup and both were delicious! The chicken wings were flavourful; loved the crispiness on the outside and juiciness on the inside! Chicken teriyaki was good but a bit dry in some areas, probably because they use chicken breast instead of thighs and were not deep fried like other places. I would order it again as the sauce helps to soften it up!Be warned though, it's in a sketchy place!! We were about to pull out after picking up our order and some dude on a bike came to our window! Didn't even check to see what he wanted, just drove out of there!! Will definitely be back, just at an earlier time!

I wish Charlotte had better Chinese restaurants. Every where we've tried (and we've tried a lot) are just average. Hunan Express is just that... average. Nothing was awful but nothing was mind blowing, either. We had a couple apps -- teriyaki chicken skewers and fried dumplings. I liked the sauce that came with the dumplings. The chicken with garlic sauce dinner combo was good and came with fried rice and an egg roll. The sauce on the dish was good and they didn't drown everything in it (like other Chinese restaurants are apt to do) but the veggies were a little over cooked/mushy for my taste. Odds are, we'll likely order from Hunan Express because, let's be honest, there's not really a better choice. And, they deliver!!

Okay food, nice employees, but dang they need to clean clean clean! Too many things were just filthy. My food was a little over priced for the quality and quantity.

I hadn't been to this place in YEARS, not for any particular reason I just hadn't. My husband and I were looking for some food to order and this was the last chinese spot that was still delivering at the time so we gave it a try. This restaurant did NOT disappoint, the food was ready and out for delivery in no time! The taste was amazing, and we ordered our food spicy which they actually made spicy. This place was so good we ordered delivery from them the next day and once again everything was amazing. 10/10 would recommend?

My friends and I ordered $70 worth of Chinese (5 meals plus 6 appetizers) expecting mediocre/cheap-end Chinese. Hunan delivered with tasty albeit unhealthy Chinese food at a low cost. I ordered the general tso's chicken and my biggest complaint is that it was a bit dry/over fried. I wish I was offered fried rice instead of white, but I guess that option varies from place to place. I tried the chicken lo mein and that was quite tasty. I also had some crab rangoons and I would say they were average - not amazing but I've had worse. I try not to order Chinese often, but if I have a friend looking for a cheap, college-style Chinese joint in the Echo Hills area, I might point them here.

Chicken Wings are hairy and gull of feathers. Could not enjoy my BBQ wings. I could see the clumps of feathers under the sauce! Gross.

I've never written a yelp review because I think others do a better job than me. I've also worked in the service industry and my boyfriend is a local chef. I've never had worse Chinese food or service. I do live in San Francisco so I am a little jaded however I still have a favorite back road Chinese place in Virginia.They took my address wrong after submitting online and three phone calls. I had to go pick up, and they double charged me for the order and then asked if I would come back in to sign. Mistakes happen, fine. I ordered wonton soup with fried won tons, general tso chicken, crab Rangoon, and an egg roll. Everything was previously frozen, flash fried, and then just soggy. The Best was the general Tso and even that was mediocre.I love American Chinese food, will definitely never order it from here or charlotte again.

Some of the best Chinese food I've had in Charlotte. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the sauces weren't too sticky or sweet. We tried the orange chicken, sesame chicken, and the chicken and broccoli. All delicious! My only complaints would be that the fried rice was a little salty and the crab Rangoon were a little small/under filled. Otherwise it was so, so, so good.

I order Eggdrop soup($2.69). Which was GREAT. But they have a $5 card minimum. I didn't bring cash which they should've told me over the phone. The owner had a attitude cause I told him that. Definitely in the hood lol
