Horace's Hot Fried Chicken

*I tried the ghost kitchen location inside Harper's in SouthPark.WOW! This goes down in my top 5 hot chicken sandwiches ever. I tried Horace's during CLT Hot Chicken Week and I was really impressed! First of all, the chicken sandwich was massive. I'm telling you, huge. I have a hefty appetite and even I couldn't finish it all! The sauce had a ton of flavor. It wasn't too spicy, and the coleslaw complemented the spice perfectly. The bun held up to the sauciness of it all pretty well. The mac & cheese. I hated it. It was topped with a seasoning blend that was very oregano forward. I scraped that off and went for the mac underneath the weird seasonings. Otherwise, 10/10

We ordered online and interestingly the pick up location was at Mimosa Grill in the same plaza. We had the Nashville hot chicken, and it was not worth it. Having lived in TN for years, it did not resemble Nashville hot chicken. We should have ordered the salt and pepper instead.

I've tried Horace's twice now. The first time was over a year ago when I got some fried chicken. I remember being overwhelmed by how sweet the sauce it was coated in was. It wasn't hot or spicy but just incredibly sweet like they used way too much sugar in their recipe. Enough time had gone by and I pass by the stand where they operate out of enough that eventually I decided to give it another shot. This time I went with a chicken sandwich. Unfortunately the same problem arose. For me it just comes down to taste and I did not enjoy it. It felt like the party was coated in candy with how sugary and sweet it tasted. It was a big sandwich and I actually couldn't finish it because I was overwhelmed by the sweetness. It's probably worth noting that I have cut a lot of sugar out of my diet over the years and no longer eat much desert foods. Therefore I could be oversensitive to it. That being said I just couldn't enjoy my meal and I can't say I would recommend to friends.

Chicken sandwich is delicious! *Long story alert* the ordering process is good enough, simple. The pickup is a disaster. There is no mention of not having an attendant at their closet, literally no one is ever there. They do have a note stating that but that someone will be there at around 1-1:15pm, not the case. I also got an email confirm but no mention of any pickup instructions. I ended up waiting 20 mins outside before I called , and not before the 1:15pm to double check what was going on. The associate then states like its no big deal that they have my order waiting at Mimosa grills front desk. All in all, the chicken sandwich was delicious. Why all the confusion for it though?

I had Horace hot chicken a couple of years ago and it was all the rave. The Mac was awesome chicken sandwich was juicy and flavorful. I was excited to bring my BF here and oh how we were DISAPPOINTED!. The Mac and cheese was watery with ziti noodles, no flavor at all and tasted like a kids side of Mac and cheese. The chicken sandwich was lackluster. Not hot, no seasoning and super oily. My boyfriend got a side of potato salad and it tasted like watered down potatoes in mayo. I am truly upset and hope they can go back to their old recipes. I will not be returning. DO. NOT. RECOMMEND.

A group of us decided to try out Horace's chicken sandwiches for lunch. It was very messy. It wasn't spicy, it was more on the sweet side. It was very sweet.It was a big portion for $12.99 and comes with a side. I probably wouldn't get it again because of how sweet the sandwich tasted.

Only giving them 4 out of 5 because of their location, not being locals it was a bit confusing since it's a small store front with one person manning it and then disappearing to go pick up orders somewhere nearby. This can be a bit tedious if your intentions are to dine in because well... you can't. Instead of finding a parking spot, paying for it, then walking here and placing your order - I highly recommend ordering online on your way there so you can pick up and go.Now the food.. go ahead and ignore all the reviews claiming the chicken wasn't spicy enough. This chicken isn't your typical vinegar base spicy sauce.. instead it's a perfectly crafted, large, juicy piece of chicken. I have never had so much fried crispies on a chicken tender that I had to set it aside to get to the meat! The food came in large cake boxes which was a little shocking/surprising because I thought I ordered a cake on accident. I wasn't able to try the cole slaw since they were out but if you're wanting a good spicy chicken that isn't dry and typical, try this place out - BUT ORDER AHEAD!

I want to give this place 10 stars!!!! Don't miss eating at this little kiosk with outrageously good food. Don't skip the Chicken on a Stick - homeless fried chicken, fried pickles & honey dipping sauce. The smoky honey sauce is worth eating with a spoon.The chicken is so crispy, so flavorful and so perfectly prepared. I can't say enough good things about the gluten-free fried chicken. Okay y'all. I love food more than normal people. I can only think of a handful of foods I WOULDN'T try. Sadly, I've become very lactose & gluten sensitive, so most restaurant food and dining is off-limits. One of my greatest losses is fried chicken. It's SO HARD to find gluten-free fried chicken. It's even more impossible to find flavorful GF fried chicken. So glory be to all good things in the world this Nashvilke Hot Fried Chicken is 100% pure magic. I laid down after eating it, feeling like I could die without any more wants in my life. Lots of dairy-free and gluten-free goodness. We have a REQUIRED stop in Charlotte now. Thanks, Horace!!!

Super good spicy chicken sandwhiches!!! This is up there as a top 3 for me in Charlotte for chicken sandwhiches. It's a great bang for your buck in terms of quality and quantity. Mac-n-cheese is great also.I have two small downsides to all the up's. I think fries as a side option would be popular. Biggest issue though is the hours they're open. I always crave this only to find out they're closed. Please stay open so I can get it more often.Recommend this spot for sure with all that said. I just wish it were open later at night.

It was just okay. I had to travel about 15 minutes back to work once I picked up food and my chicken sandwich was soggy. The bread and sauce were stuck to the wrapper and I had to put the sandwich back together. The salt and pepper chicken wings were alright as well. The breading was thicccckkkk. But if that's your jam you'll love these. The hush puppies and mac and cheese again were alright. I don't know. It was nice to try but I definitely wouldn't say you need to rush to this place. I think my experience would have been better if I ate my sandwich immediately.
