Cute museum that was very clean and had a inviting staff plus nice restrooms! The information they had displayed was great and my whole family enjoyed it. It's free and a nice change from the shopping on main st.

Within Hendersonville's Old County Courthouse is the Henderson Heritage Museum. The museum features the history of the railroad that really made this town come alive. They also have information and things on display from every American war--including real uniforms. At the end of the tour we learned that our volunteer tour guide is a Veteran Naval Nurse who served in Desert Storm. This is a great educational opportunity. I recommend visiting the Henderson Heritage Museum.

THE TALKING BULLET!I really wasn't interested in the museum as much as I was interested in seeing this historic building. As soon as we entered the building, a little lady comes from behind the reception desk and proceeds to ruin our experience by talking incessantly. I am not engaging her because I don't want to encourage her so as she continues to talk to my husband I walk away and start reading a display. She follows and continues to talk so I go into a different room where I am again trying to read the display. My husband follows and so does she and she is droning on with some anecdotal jargon while I am trying to read about the historical accounts of key events. If I was alone, I would have shut that down real quick but since Mr. Rogers is on the scene I choose to just go outside and "make a call" which is code for I am leaving, meet me outside. He soon follows. Turns out that Mr. Rogers was miserable too so we just left.Unfortunately we were not able to make a return visit because we discovered that they are not open on Mondays and they don't allow you to freely tour the building as other cities do. If you are actually wanting to see the "museum", just know that this consists of two small rooms on the main level and the third floor as well.Good luck dodging the talking bullet!
