Without a doubt the BEST market in the Charlotte area for any and all things related to making amazing Japanese dishes at home. The staff is so friendly and helpful, and they welcome beginner Japanese speakers like me, so don't be afraid to try and ask questions in Japanese, as they appreciate the effort!For those of you who have been to Japan or who just have a love of the culture and food, this place has a variety of snacks, breads and treats, along with a great selection of staples, sauces, fish and vegetables to meet all of your needs.Definitely worth checking out, as this is one instance where size doesn't matter, as Hatoya is THE "super" market when it comes to having the best assortment of Japanese offerings and you won't be disappointed!

I've been coming here since i came to Charolette. It feels like a slice of culture all its own. I never trusted big marts with my foreign product. They also have my favorite curry box here. Sure, as hell beats ordering online. The people who work here are super helpful. I always feel welcome.

Small Japanese grocery store for everything you need to cook a meal at home. They close early everyday so watch out for that.

Great hole in the wall market in a shopping plaza in Pineville. Very authentic Japanese snacks, food, and drinks. You can find just about everything you need to make a Japanese meal... including dish ware, toiletries, and alcohol. I found some yummy snacks and candies and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I plan on returning when I drive back to Pineville!

It was a pleasant surprise to know that there is a Japanese market in Charlotte. They have all the necessary supplies one would need. The store is clean and the owner was very nice and helpful.

Huge variety. Well organized. Very friendly. I will definitely return to shop here! Took my sister and her grandkids and all were impressed.

All the Eastern stuff you can imagine and more. Japanese, Chinese, Thai. Sauces, sakes, beans and rices. Pot noodles and ramens. Candies and breads. Some fresh produce. Bowls, dishes, eating utensils and other tableware.Lots of frozen stuff and there's a chiller for your cold sake.Half the people in Walmart not wearing their masks, but that's not a problem at Hatoya. What is it that everyone here wears them, no question? All guests and the staff. 5 different Asian stores in 1 day, in search of 1 ingredient . . . THEY HAD IT! Ask for help, don't be shy. What I was expecting to be on a shelf was easily found in the refrigerator by the store associate. Great selection of sauces, staples, and snacks. Refrigerator section is a bit light on prepared, ready to eat favorites. Do not miss the dessert and mochi freezer by the cash register/check out line. I was surprised to see such a large selection of DVDs and household items.

Such a wonderful place to visit. My daughter has been going on and on about trying Japanese treats and wanting to visit. My boyfriend found this shop and we visited and got all kinds of goodies! I was so impressed with the selection and the quality of their desserts. We purchased multiple things for her and my son but grabbed us some cream puff desserts for our long drive home (about 40 ish min) and they were amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful in locating some items that my little one specifically called out. Their pricing was very reasonable and the whole store itself was laid out so you could find things easily. If you are looking for a great place to get some things you can't normally get around town try this place.
