I've been coming here for 2 decades for 1 reason: fresh baked daily markouk. (IYKYK) Growing up in a Lebanese family and cooking all the best middle eastern foods - trust me when I say the markouk and Lebnah alone is worth the trip to this halal market (think bodega). Dingy, somewhat organized, and eclectic you can find everything from grains & meats, bulk sized tahini, junky trinkets to olives, hookah equipment and supplies, dried spices and middle eastern desserts. The market is attached to a bakery serving up all kinds of middle eastern foods - fatayer, knafe, pita, and much more! I recommend the minced meat and pine nut fatayer- so so good. It's a treasure hunt and is in a small area of Sharon Amity with a fair few other middle eastern spots to try like Al-Basha next door. If you're looking for the flavors of home (Lebanon, Syria) this is as close as charlotte can get.

Came here on the suggestion of my stepmom because I was told their shisha and tea game was strong. I was not disappointed! I was so excited to find mint orange and lemon flavors of the "good stuff" shisha and my fav turkish tea (that I have been unable to find anywhere in Austin!). Also, got a box of 100 hookah coals for $11.99, which is one of the better prices I have found. They also had a great selection of honey, exotic jams, and spices (all of which I would have gotten had I not been flying home with limited luggage space).Everyone in the shop was very nice and it was so cool to meet so many people of diverse nationalities. Definitely enjoyed my shopping trip here!

Halal Market is one of not too many middle eastern stores that I am aware of, so it's great that it's there. Shopkeeper Hassan was lovely and helpful! It is rather haphazardly stocked though, some displays are in complete disarray and a lot of items seem to be gathering dust. I recently went with an ingredient list from a Jerusalem cookbook and was only able to find half the things I needed. Store owner did do his best to find what I needed. I'll be back, though I won't be banking on getting every single item I am looking for.

Nice mediterranean market, I've bought really good lamb at the butcher counter before; and they also have a tub of really spicy red-pepper-paste-marinated green olives. Good!! They also have bulk tubs of regular green and kalamatas as well; but the green olives are too bright/lemony for my tastes...Lots of fresh [bulk] beans & legumes in the cold cases too.
