Gus Family Restaurant

I had high hopes for this place after a new owner took over. The store renovation looks great, menus are sexy, and service is quick and friendly.However, on both visits, the food quality, taste, and presentation coupled with a low sanitation grade of 92.5, gives me pause. Persistently poor scores = poor food. Simple as that.Great diners are a thing of beauty and Monroe needs more of them. C'mon Gus--up your game! Until then my "Give 'em a Whirl" is mapping me elsewhere.

Every time we go it is always good!!! Everything on the menu never misses!! It's so fresh and the service is great!!

Fast service, wide selection. Great quality and taste. Fried whitefish and Mediterranean salad were excellent. And so was the free cup of chicken soup. Brand new and very clean. Staff was responsive and courteous.

Found this place on Facebook through a friend. We absolutely love it. It's off the beaten path but worth the drive. Reasonably priced and excellent food. A really nice environment. Inside the staff is very friendly. It's a must-try.

I've been twice already and yes I got the same thing. I've been trying to eat healthier so I need some veggies. This plate is enough for me to split amongst two days. Very good amount for an affordable price.Recently we went with my sister and other ladies and she got chilaquiles verdes with beans(which is normally a Mexican breakfast) and she was amazed with the taste and how it truly felt like an authentic mexican breakfast. Our waitress have been amazing and very friendly. This place feels like home. The renovation is neat and organized. Very nice breakfast place. I'll have to try lunch sometime! (:

Absolutely love Gus family restaurant. We've only ever door dashed, but the food is always hot & fresh. Great variety!

We just finished having dinner at "Gus" in Monroe NC. the place is clean and fresh the building is about thirty years old but the inside has been totally remodeled, freshly painted and it looks great, My wife had Portobello mushroom chicken, and she said that it was exhalent, I had the flounder and it was also excellent, The service was very good, the owner came by the table to check on us, and chat for a bit. and the hostess is so sweet. If you like home style food this is a great place to visit.

First time eating at Gus Family Restaurant in Monroe and it did not disappoint! Clean as a whistle, great food, great service. I will be going back again for sure!

The quality of food is always so good!! The Mediterranean platter was excellent, with homemade tzatziki sauce, chicken, fries, salad and pita bread. Huge servings, and service is always great!! Plus, breakfast for lunch is so nice.

Good food. He didn't LOVE his cowboy burger and she said the biscuits are not scratch. Very good service: she remembered our special requests, offered refills and carryout, knew who ordered what even though the place was hopping. Well staffed. Nice ambience and very clean. We liked our omelets and the home fries were very tasty with special seasoning. ​
