Just what I was looking for... a home cooked meal. This place is outstanding. Can't wait to when I'm back in the area.

Stopped for lunch today. First time here. Small inside, a few tables and booths and a lunch counter. Standard "greasy spoon" interior. Friendly staff. We ordered a foot long hot dog with fries and a flounder sandwich with onion rings along with fried pickles and two teas. Service was relatively quick. Food came out and it was pretty good. Got as C say- have never had a BRIGHT red hot dog, but aside from that it was good. Fish sandwich was good- whole filet on a bun. Onion rings and fries were good. Fried pickle were good, albeit a little tough. Total for lunch for two- $22.00 + tip. Very reasonable. Overall- a pleasant experience and a fun place. We will certainly consider it again next time we c are in the area.

This is a popular local place and has solid food. I would rate the burgers three stars, but onion rings and fried okra were four stars. Lots of trucks and lots of locals. They have a pretty extensive specials menu, including barbecue pork, barbecue, chicken, pork, chops, lasagna, chicken livers, shrimp, and catfish. Also extensive sides: mashed potatoes, sweet, potato, casual, potato salad, broccoli, casserole, slaw, collard greens, cucumber, salad, Black Eyed Peas, beets, squash, fried, rice, peaches, and cottage cheese. Whew! If you're in the area and need a meal, it's a good place to stop.

Pretty good country cooking in a time-worn but obviously locally beloved restaurant. Their fried chicken was excellent as was the fried yellow squash which tasted fresh from the garden but the cucumber and onion salad was pretty sad and more onions by far than cucumbers. Still a solid choice for inexpensive country fare and very close off the interstate as well.

We were traveling on I-77 headed home from PA. The reviews said the locals loved the place so we decided to give it a shot. This restaurant is now pinned on my maps and a reminder set up to the location to notify us so we can plan on stopping at this spot every time we travel I-77. Home-cooking at its BEST! I'm not talking about some tourist trap or dirty truck stop that doesn't care if you come back. REAL DEAL - HOME MADE Country cooking. I had the special - chicken pie. OMG - warmed my soul and made my tummy smile! My hubby had a cheeseburger with hush puppies and a side of these things they called "munchies". Jalapeño stuffed with cheese, breaded & fried - also very good. I tried one, but I couldn't get enough of my sides - fried okra & apple cobbler.... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm so good.

Love this locals diner spot! We eat here each time we are here camping at Linney's Mill. Home cooked choices like veggies that aren't all fried. Friendly service. The 8 oz burgers are good. I get the one with pimento cheese and bacon.

Gunters Family Kitchen is Absolutely !!! Everyone always gives you a warm welcome soon as you walk in. Food is Absolutely delicious I always make a point stopping in whenever I'm passing thru. Most importantly, it's always a pleasure sitting at the counter chatting with all the locals. You be surprised some recognize ya being a regular stopping thru at times.

They have a lot to choose from and it is considered 'home style cooking' but everything comes in frozen or comes from a can. Nothing is freshly made (except breakfast). And I think it's pricey for the quality of food you get. Also, watch out when you go to the register to pay. Lately, I've noticed they'll add a tip (even on take-out!) and won't even say a word! Just pass up this exit if you're looking for good food and friendly service. Unless it's btwn the hours of 3am-6am...then head to the Exxon Truck Stop and try their sausage and gravy biscuits! Yum, Yum!
