Would give 3.5 Stars if possible - not a true 3 but really didn't hit 4 for me. Service was great! Ambiance was great! Cocktails were tasty! Food is small plates style (which they advertise) but please note that they are not joking. I left feeling a bit hungry, and spent more than I would like to have to not feel satisfied after the meal. We started with the Pommes Frites (truffle fries) and they were excellent! I also ordered the Larry's Buns (comes with 2), and found the flavor to be strange - we did not have more than half of one as nobody in the group liked the flavor. Or the texture. I would personally skip those. We each got a pasta so we tried all 3 of the current offerings. The Garganelli was our favorite, Tagliolini a good second, and found the Gnocchi interesting (butternut squash & apple flavor). Again, these were each small portions and it was not the most ideal to share beyond a singular bite for each person to taste. The flavors were each unique and enjoyable but I personally felt as if I would have needed to order 2 portions myself to be satisfied - which I have never experienced at a restaurant. The Garganelli was the "safe" option of the bunch I would say, classic red sauce pasta dish with homemade sausage. We stayed for dessert and very much enjoyed the Lemon Bar & French Silk Mousse! All in all a cozy space with good service and a menu with lots of flavor. I would recommend this spot if you're not looking for a big meal and want to try several dishes throughout your sitting. But I learned that I am not the target consumer for small plates! Removed 1.5 / 2 stars due to the price for just HOW small the portions are and one of the items going uneaten for $14. I left hungry and spent $65 myself before tip and had no alcohol.

Solid restaurant choice! It's not the largest restaurant so I would recommend making a reservation. We had no issues making one for 6 people during the week. All of the food was delicious! Most of it is small plates so it's meant for sharing. Between the two of us we split Larry's Buns, Tuna Carpaccio and Tagliolini. The buns were a great choice because they were also filling. The Tuna Carpaccio was good however there wasn't much too it. I was definitely still hungry after splitting that with one other person. The pasta was a decent choice, definitely not large enough as a meal for one person though. Someone else at the table got the gnocchi which I preferred over the Tagliolini. I wasn't completely full after our meal but was satisfied. Our table also split the monkey bread which I'd recommend! My only complaint would be that our service was a little slow. We ordered drinks, waiting a bit to order food and our food and drinks came out at about the same time as the food. We probably would have had another round had it not taken so long for them to arrive. We also had to ask a few times for the check. Overall I'm not the biggest fan of small plates. Everything is meant to be split which I would find awkward if I was on a date or with someone I didn't know well. But the food quality is really good so I'd try it out!

Good Food has been on my CLT list for a while and I was so happy I choose it to celebrate my birthday. I loved the intimate vibe and the patio was cute too. All of the dishes we tried were delicious! I LOVED the curry mussels which is one of their signature dishes. I will say the broth came out lukewarm instead of hot, but the flavors were on point. The pastas were amazing too. We also tried a few other apps like the biscuits (they were served with a pimento cheese that was so tasty). Our waiter was awesome and very attentive without being overbearing. Overall a great meal and experience! Can't wait to come back

I had forgotten just how great Good Food on Montfort was! I don't think I've been here since 2015 (it was one of Charlotte's first trendy, edgy small plates restaurants), but it still ticked all the boxes for me. Food, service and vibe were all top notch! Our waiters were super friendly and attentive (they even brought us complimentary bubbly when we sat down in honor of my friend's birthday!). We shared four small plates - the mussels in a delicious green curry sauce (they have us two pieces of pita with that and I honestly wish we had gotten more - I could have sipped that stuff by itself!), the beet salad over whipped goat cheese (amazing), the pork belly bao buns and the mushrooms top with a quail egg (our favorite - very salty and lots of umami flavor). Finally, we finished with the chocolate bourbon cake with burnt caramel ice cream for dessert - absolutely phenomenal. The cake was warm, the caramel was sticky and the ice cream was refreshing. Perfection on a plate! Can't wait to come back again soon!

To have a good birthday, head to Good Food. We had a reservation at the Chef's Counter for my birthday and really loved the experience. Upon getting seated, we were given complimentary glasses of champagne - so nice! The menu has a great variety of small-medium dishes, and our servers were so helpful when explaining and answering questions. We first put in our cocktail order along with the duck pot pie since that takes half an hour to prepare. The cocktails were unique and very well prepared. My spritz was so pretty with a fresh flower in it, and my husband's lavender drink tasted heavenly. We then ordered the Korean beef and the green curry mussels. Both were SO TASTY! I especially loved the sauce the mussels came in - we were spooning it into our mouths after we finished the mussels! The Korean steak was so well prepared and went so well with the sauce and crispy rice. This dish was on the smaller side but still packed with flavor. Just as we finished these two plates, our fresh & hot duck pot pie arrived! This is a hefty dish that was so comforting. The pastry was flaky, buttery perfection. We struggled to finish this but enjoyed every bite. Sitting at the chef's counter was a nice experience; we enjoyed getting to see the action and chatting a bit with the chef. Thanks for a great birthday meal, Good Food!

Good Food is officially in our top five favorite places for dinner in the CLT area. Their combination of delicious tapas, fantastic beverages, and great service and atmosphere make them another must-return on our list.My husband and I visited for my birthday again this year, and everything was fabulous. We selected four items to share -4/5 - Falafel - We've had this before, and it's a filling dish with flavorful falafel, homemade pickles, hummus, and tzatziki. 5/5 - Taglioini - Last year, they offered shaved truffle with this dish, but truffles are in short supply this year. No matter, this dish is still one of my favorites for the delicious homemade pasta and creamy sauce. We don't eat a lot of carbs any more, but this dish is most certainly carb-worthy.5/5 - Scallops - What a flavor explosion! There are so many additions on this plate that add to the perfectly cooked scallops. Every bite was perfection.5/5 - Korean beef - My husband's favorite, with perfectly medium-rare beef served on top of a crispy rice cake. The marinade for the beef was divine. For our beverages, we had the Fresh Picked and Turkish Delight again. Both were delicious, and I especially loved that the Fresh Picked was sweetened only from the strawberries. Service is always excellent here. Dishes come out as they are ready, but our server only put in two items at a time so we wouldn't be overwhelmed. Just a note - outdoor seating was closed on Saturday evening because of insufficient staff. But we always eat inside, as the tables are spaced apart well enough, and we like the music and vibe indoors. While GFM is further away from our home, we definitely plan to return more frequently.

The food here is absolutely phenomenal--if only the service didn't make the experience so frustrating. We waited 30 minutes just to place a drink order, then another 20 minutes to actually receive them. When we politely mentioned we were on a time crunch (after waiting nearly an hour for cocktails alone), our waiter was rude and dismissive. It didn't stop there. The hostess yelled at my friend to move her purse (which was neatly under her chair) because it was a "safety hazard." When our food finally started arriving, we got only half of what we ordered. Upon asking about the rest, we were met with a condescending lecture about how we must be mistaken. Later, the waiter returned--not to truly apologize, but to double down on his behavior.Honestly, it was one of the wildest dining experiences I've had. If the food weren't so good, I'd never return. But be warned--unless they overhaul their service, it's a gamble on whether the meal is worth the hassle.

We had high hopes for a great dinner, but what we ended up with was a frustrating exercise in "Why bother calling yourself a restaurant?" After driving out, parking, and showing up to what we assumed would be a welcoming establishment, we were promptly told that despite the empty tables in plain sight, every single one had been reserved. Every single one. Why even bother leaving the impression you're open to walk-ins if you're essentially an exclusive club with no room for anyone who doesn't plan ahead to the minute?I get that reservations are a thing, but having every table booked before anyone even arrives makes it feel less like a restaurant and more like a private event space with some questionable marketing.Oh, and the cherry on top? The general manager, who seemed far more interested in defending this bizarre policy than in offering any kind of customer service or basic courtesy. It's one thing to have a strict reservation policy; it's another to be rude while enforcing it.For a restaurant that pretends to care about hospitality, we left feeling entirely unwelcome and certainly not inclined to return.
