The park was completely under construction when we visited several months ago. It was in the winter though, so hopefully that's wrapped up now. I really like that this park connects to the South Fork Catawba River Greenway. It's pretty short, but a nice walk. It also connects to the town of Cramerton and another section of the Carolina Thread Trail down by the Catawba River. I'm sure the park itself is also really nice when it's not under construction. I definitely recommend checking out the trails that connect to it too.

Operated by the City of Cramerton (which I think I've never heard of), Goat Island Park features a 3/4 mile paved surface trail, observation pier, two canoe/kayak landings, picnic shelters, disc gold course and an open air amphitheater. The park has been open since 2012 and is in excellent condition. The park is 30 acres with hardwoods, vegetation and wetlands. It gets the interesting name from the town's founder, Stuart Cramer, who released goats onto the island to control the weeds dating back to as early as 1910.There is a good amount of parking near one of the cool pedestrian bridges and at one of the trailheads.[Review 12586 overall, 2378 of 2019.]

Small but luxurious!Park here: 141 8th Ave. Cramerton, North CarolinaThere's a small coffee & ice cream store (which also rents kayaks) where you can park called Floyd & Blackie's. We went for icecream after our park adventure, but the line was simply too long. I could easily see how people could spend their day in the coffee shop though, very cute and quaint. The park has:- 2 Jungle gyms: one that looks like a ropes course treehouse and one with slides and swings- Outdoor gym with fixed exercise equipment- Table tennis- Solid cornhole/bags set up- Peers for fishing- Diskgolf course- 2 bridges over the rivers- Easy water entry points with side-by-side stairs/ramp access for canoes/kayaks- Covered picnic shelter with a grillUnfortunately, we went there in hopes to take our doggie off the leash at the dog park, but we were told it was no longer there due to a large flooding storm in the last month.

Great little park that covers many bases. It has some very nice play areas for younger kids, and some exercise machines for adults. A Disk Golf course runs around the perimeter, as does the walking path. There is a dog park here to let pets off leash, and nice walking pths around the island. Everything is very scenic and relaxing.

What a great spot! Looked up local parks in the area where I am part time Nannying and Goat Island Park came up. It's address says Cramerton, but it's right off of Hwy 74/Wilkinson Blvd. You drive through a neighborhood to get here but it is well signed to find your way. The kids I brought are 10, 9 and 5 but it could easily be suited for all ages. There is a dog park right where the playgrounds are, so bring the four legged kids as well!Great picnic table pavilion area that has signage for rental opportunities. There is a fitness pavilion with all kinds of workout equipment, though I didn't try any out for fear of needing 911. There is also permanent ping pong tables in the area where the playground is and has paddles and balls available as well as permanent cornhole boards! Nice touch! Two great bridges lead to the playground area and the walking paths we used were well paved and easy to navigate for any age.Check it out if you're over this way! Safe, clean fun and it's FREE!

Took a weekend off to relax with my lovely bride and needed to get out to stretch the legs and let housekeeping do their thing at the hotel. Concierge suggested coming down to the park for a pleasant walk in and around nature.Took a little effort to get here which was probably a good thing otherwise I am sure the place would be overrun with hooligans and generally filthed up. There is sufficient parking to handle a comfortable crowd at the park; if the lot is full the park probably is too. The frontage appears well suited to blanket picnicking and there are tables in the main park too.You enter across a bridge on a broad paved path that meanders into and around a pretty excellent park and eventually get to another bridge that exits across the south fork main channel to a wee shopping center that could use a quaint soda shoppe with open air seating.Disc golf winds its way around the whole place past the fun and games described elsewhere (see Megan N & Stephanie M) There's a nice little pier off the south end of the trail for sitting and looking and thinking and maybe sharing a moment or two too. Please be a good neighbor and clean up after yourself so other visitors and the local residents can enjoy the park as much as you did! ...and report bad/destructive behavior to the local authorities.

This is a brand new park, and everything is really nice. The playground is very innovative with different types of rope structures for kids to climb on. There aren't a lot of swings here, but everything else is so neat I don't really think it matters. They even have an exercise section for adults that's amazing as well. You can fish here, play frisbee golf, ping pong (bring your own ball though, they don't provide any) and have trails to walk along. Definitely something you need to bring your kids to. Love this place, can't wait to go again!

Took 5 people to play disc golf today and lost a total of 10 disc. Terrible placement for t-pads (That weren't submerged underwater) , the trees, bushes, and limbs are very over grown. The whole course is an absolute nightmare. I'm not gonna leave this review without mentioning the mud. Every pig in the state of North Carolina could roll around freely on this disc golf course. Plus in the spring/ summer time the mosquitoes are infesting. With all of this being said I give this course a 1/5 star review.

I lived in a small Cramer Millhouse next to the South Fork River in Cramerton NC since birth 11/27/1944.My farther worked in the mill for many years. The river was around 100 yards down a hill and across it was Goat Island. It would get flooded ever so often and my dad along with our neighbors.Would go rescue all the goats from drowning that they could.I remember he would bring a young goat inside our home so me and my two sisters could see it.Mr Cramer also went to Africa to big game hunt and would bring back baby Alligators and set them free in the river. It was located at the bottom of his Mansion home of Cramer mountain.Once in a while it seems a gator pops up on the river?
