This place is ok. Nothing to rave about other than the garlic knots. Seems overpriced. The pizza is mediocre. Lack of red sauce, and quantity of toppings. The cheese is gooey which should be the norm for all pizza places. The garlic knots was my favorite. I got an order for 6 which came with one marinara sauce. The sauce was dull, like it came from a can or jar and didn't have any extra tlc to give it more of an authentic taste.I placed my order to-go and when I asked for some parmesan cheese packs, I was told it would be an extra cost. That's crazy! So instead I sat there and used the indoor cheese dispenser and shook it all over my pizza and left. I'll be damned if I pay for a pack of processed parm. The nerve.

Great meatball sub, great pizza by the slice--gotta try some more stuff! And great service, called in a slice, got there in 10 mins and it was hot and ready to go.

Aesthetic: Traditional, mom and pop Italian restaurant with all the classics, pizza, and dessert.Experience: As an update to my last review, I dined here recently, and it was even better than the first few times I tried it! The chicken picatta was decadent as always, but they improved the garlic rolls and they were garlicky and oily like they used to be. We also tried an order of the baked ziti, and I truly believe it's the best in town! The workers are always kind and treat you like family. This is a family favorite of ours that we'll frequent as long as we live in Charlotte. Conclusion: Go here if you're looking for a great Italian meal, they're one of my favorites!

I've always gone to Giacomo's for their pizza-solid option especially their grandma pie. This is the first time I dined in and had their pasta. I don't normally buy stuff at restaurants that is easy to make at the house but I didn't feel like cooking so I decided to see what the dine in experience would be like...Overall pleased with the quality-chicken Alfredo arrived hot, sauce was good although a little "tight", good sized portion, bread was good that accompanied the meal as well. Salad was a no frills traditional side...nothing too crazy here. Wine/beer is a bit limited here but they do have a few options to choose from. My server was very nice and accommodating as well. Not mad at it...is it top of my list for pasta in the area? Probably not but I'd definitely go back and give it another try. Restaurant itself has limited seating but I'm sure their business model is setup more for to go meals. If I could rate the pizza, specifically their grandma pie I'd say 3.8 stars and if I could rate the pasta, I'd say 3.5. I know; weird rating scale but that's life.

Allow me a moment to take you on a journey. After leaving Greensboro en route home to Atlanta, I stopped in Charlotte for "Date Day" with a new friend. This is important: picking the perfect location for dinner is elevated to the 800th power when it's a Date Day. I'm sure you understand the pressure. LoL!!After seeing The Equalizer 3 I was in the mood for some Italian. (Don't Judge Me) LoL! After performing a search on Yelp I came across Giacomo's and decided to give it a try. Not only were the reviews good, however, the pictures that were posted hooked me in.Upon arriving, Giacomo's sits in a strip plaza which allows for ample parking space. The all glass front allows you to look inside before walking through the door. The visual draw is warm and inviting which adds to the draw of the restaurant as a whole... Once inside, the sign states "Please Wait to be Seated." As we were waiting we were greeted by some of the staff who were working in the to-go area. They welcomed us and told us someone would be with us shortly. As they advised, within moments someone arrived and was walking us to our seats... The environment of the restaurant has a Mom & Pops vibe which allows for a natural cozy environment. The menu is extensive. Depending on your mood you can set the tone for whatever the food mood is. As this was a date vibe for me, I stuck to the Entree side of the menu and stayed away from the pizza section. Although, based on the pizzas I saw at other tables, I'm coming back very soon. LoL. As we reviewed the menu our waitress came over and greeted us. Her name was Sherry and she was a bundle of joy. Sherry presented a greeting that made you feel at home and put a smile on your face. After going over some of the menu items and engaging in food festive conversation, Sherry took our drink and food order and advised she would be back shortly. Upon arriving with our drinks (you know I had to have the Sweet Tea), Sherry also brought us some dinner rolls. OhMyGosh!! I don't know whose grandmother was in back, but these dinner rolls were OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD. Freshly made, crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Based on the quality and flavor of the rolls, it was no question that we would be in for a treat when dinner arrived. I decided on the Lasagna and boy am I glad I did. When the lasagna arrived at the table, the visual appeal made me too excited to dive in and eat. The super cheesy layer with the crispy edges, pop ups of sauce, and aroma of fresh ingredients had me mesmerized for a moment. Upon taking the first bite, my body began to melt just as the cheese melted in my mouth. The lasagna was layer upon layer of quality cheese, great tomato sauce, oregano, basil, garlic, and most importantly, a huge dose of love. This was not your typical restaurant style lasagna. This lasagna was a family recipe of togetherness, history, love, and freshness. Furthermore, not only is it a 10 out of 10 for the visual presentation and flavor, it is also a 10 for the serving size. This was the perfect option as this was an earlier dinner for me and the portion size allowed for me to have leftovers to go. Here's the kicker, hours later when I heated my lasagna up, it tasted just as good as it did when it was brought to the table. Oh yeah! This is a representation of Great Quality. If you're in the Charlotte area and in the mood for some authentic Italian and a great service, make sure to stop in and experience Giacomo's. Make sure to ask if Sherry is working and get seated in her section for Top-Notch Service!

Disappointing experience! Purchased a pepperoni and Italian sausage Sicilian Pizza about 45 minutes prior to closing on a Saturday. Once getting home we noticed the pizza was undercooked and lacked flavor, tried to call the restaurant but no one answered. Call the following day and spoke to a man explaining my complaint, he said that they pre-bake the Sicilian pizzas but it is a possibility that it was undercooked but in the future it can be requested to be cooked well done. No offer of a refund or a new pizza, $27 wasted. We will not be returning customers(.)

It's been probably 10 years since I've been to Giacomo's but I first had their pizza 20+ years ago when they were on N Tryon. They have some really good pizza and their longevity speaks to this.I've never tried their grandma pizza so decided to give it a try. It's not the best test of pizza because we got it to go. It smelled delicious and was ready in the time they said it would be. It was Friday evening and they were PACKED!We live about 20 minutes away and by the time we got home, the crust was fairly soggy/spongy except for about 2" around the edges. I'm sure it would be much better if we ate it at the restaurant. I popped it in the oven on broil for a minute or 2 to crisp it up again.I was a little disappointed with the amount of toppings added to it. I added green olives and meatballs to half for my husband and there weren't many on there. In the end, it was really good but I have another Charlotte pizzeria which still holds the #1 spot in my heart for Grandma's pizza but giacomo's is closer

This place is amazing! My husband loves pizza so we have tried a LOT of pizza restaurants in the Charlotte area and this is our favorite by far. Some places have good sauce but the crust isn't great or vice versa. Giacomo's pizza has both an incredible sauce and a perfect crust. The toppings on the pizza are also really high quality and fresh. Our favorites are the buffalo chicken pizza, the alfredo chicken pizza, and Grandma's pie (which is probably the best pizza ever!). We also love the caprese salad and the fried zucchini. Everything always tastes fresh and is consistently delicious every time we go. The service is also fantastic!

Fantastic place, family owned and been around for years! Everything I get there is delicious and freshly prepared. Service and ambiance are great as well. Servers are knowledgeable and friendly. Ambiance is relaxed! Only draw back is I wish their wine list was more extensive, but I'm not picky. Picture is of a great Chianti wine they have by the bottle!
