I came across this space while exploring up/downtown Charlotte. The artwork caught my eye and drew me in. Bear in mind it's really an event space but they welcome passersby to view the art downstairs. Don't be like me, wander upstairs and find out the slightly embarrassing way by being escorted nicely back downstairs. Stay downstairs if you're only browsing the artwork

Beautiful facility! The artwork is out of this world. Artwork is all throughout the facility. Several conference rooms that can be used for just about any type of event ( weddings, parties, conferences etc. Great staff...I attended an event which was top notch from beginning to end. Parking is available in the garage in the building right next door. I wouldn't bring children unless you keep the close...lots of expensive items. Restrooms available in all floors. I would to come back again!

Man cannot live by bread alone. While strolling Uptown Charlotte with time to spare before a meeting, I came upon the Sonia and Isaac Luski Gallery at the foundation and decided it was the perfect way to spend my 20min free time remaining.Entering, I was instantly greeted by the woman at the front desk. She offered some literature, provided some cursory details on the contents of the gallery, then bid me enjoyment as I browsed. Free admission. The Luski's decided to share their coveted personal art collection with the Queen City and I am grateful.Whimsical, abstract, enchanting, mystifying.....these words accurately depict the art on display. I have a strong affinity for glass so was especially entranced by several pieces which I've captured below.I wasn't particularly hungry, but could have eaten. It is amazing how readily we stuff our mouths when bored or needing to fill time. I decided instead to ingest beauty and creativity, and was both lifted and energized from the experience. How's that for a midday snack?

Delightful FREE museum in the heart of the busy financial Tryon Street. Simply sign in at the guest book at the front reception desk, and you can take as much time as you need. The Foundation of the Carolinas, I recently discovered thanks to Rod O., use to be the home of The Mint. The small museum now houses blown glass, sculpture, some mixed media and oil painting; public access is only granted on the first floor currently. Perusing the first floor gallery shouldn't take more then twenty minutes, so it's definitely a short stop, but great if you enjoy the beauty in art or need to find somewhere to escape a hot day. The building itself has spaces on the top floor that artists rent out as well as conference rooms. The architecture is lovely, with beautiful sculptures adorning the top of the outside of the building. They have the BIGGEST cat painting I have ever seen, and even have some of Dale Chihuly's amazing blown glass work. Truly a treat for any local or tourist alike.

I would highly recommend Foundation for the Carolinas for an uptown wedding in Charlotte, NC. My husband and I got married there in August 2014. We were able to comfortably use this space for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception for 107 guests. The 4th floor space we used was newly renovated, and with good weather you can utilize the patio spaces, which have awesome views of the city, including the changing color Duke Energy building. We are starting to get back our professional photos and the venue photographed beautifully; it was the perfect backdrop, in fact we chose to do our sneak peak in the 1st floor gallery space. We really enjoyed working with the staff, Rebecca and David, and loved this venue's uptown location. It is a block and a half from Holiday Inn Center City and across the street from The Dunhill. It was very accessible for our out-of-town guests to stay uptown and walk to all of the weekend wedding celebrations.http://evergreenstudio1.com/blog/?p=3960

Great museum, and even better event venue! Had the chance to attend a wedding there this past weekend, and WOW. The views are insane, the artwork is an awesome thing to tour during cocktail hour, and the rooftop 'Living Wall' couldn't be a better place for pictures! This is a great way to kill an hour or two browsing, or a night dancing away at a wedding!
